Windscreen storage - horizontal OK?
Have 2 SS1 windscreens that have long been stored in spare room but now have to find a another place to live.
Windscreens are normally stored in vertical plane. Is it ok to store windscreens laying flat long-term?
I could try to provide some support at the middle I guess.

Should be ok Terry as long as you don't stack stuff on them - I have two in our loft ) not SS1's though.

I don't know if there's any other reason, but I guess the biggest problem with storing them flat, is that it increases the risk of damage from objects falling on them, or being dumped on them in error? (plus of course it occupies more floor space, but that may not matter, depending on where you've got in mind?)

Windscreen storage - horizontal OK?
I had a perfect SE5a Sundym screen carefully stored vertically during the rebuild of my car, came the day to refit it and it was cracked down the middle, the edge must have been standing on something like a small stone perhaps, had to fit my less good delaminated other spare. I now have another really good one to fit one day, stored vertically with pipe insulation around the edge.

I was told when collecting screens for people from Rick Evans that they should always be stored upright and not flat.

SE4c rebuilding. SE5a similar it seems!

Since glass remains in a fluid state and is never truly solid, suspect that if store flat any curvature will change over time making the screen harder to fit.

Yes, I wondered about that too but suspect that it would take more than just a few years to have a noticeable effect.
However currently laying flat on top of a wardrobe they look very fragile.
Thanks for all the comments, I 'll try and find some space in the attic where they can be stored vertical.

Problem solved - space found in attic, stored vertically.
I went up there, intending to just find some space... but swmbo followed and initiated complete clear-out of all sorts of ancient stuff. Many trips to charity shops and local tip. But now I have more space for CAR stuff!
