GTC corner weights
Does anyone out there have the weight for each corner of a GTC......that is the weight on each tyre?
Dennis

GTC corner weights
Hi, Dennis. Only just picked up on this. When I was preparing the GTC for French reg I had her weighed. If the notes are correct, the weight on the front axle was 680kg, and on the back axle 560kg. Would it be TOO simple to assume that the weight on each front wheel is therefore 340kg, and on each rear wheel 280kg?

It won’t be exact but not far off. Here’s my SS1 corner weights - although the whole car was lightened, it was fairly symmetrical apart from the gel battery in the passenger footwell.

680kg front and 560kg rear equates to 55/45% weight distribution. And with the engine behind the front wheels, does that make the Scimitar mid-engine?????

technically they are mid engine, as the lump is between the axles.

Excellent! Must find out how to say that in French (James, Oldconn? - moteur central?) so that I can add that in to my standard explanation of what the GTC is.

I am trying to get an answer from a tyre manufacturer as to whether a tyre with a certain load/speed indicator can have a higher speed rating if it has a considerable lower load......it would help us if we could use what would be normally a T if it could be upgraded to H if it had much lower load on it.

Thanks, Mark. "Propulsion, moteur central avant, donc". Sounds a bit of a mouthful to me. Perhaps I'll just stick to "a plastic car never imported into France ....."

Just make sure you don't end up with tyres for a commercial vehicle, as I did a couple of tyre changes back. Harder compound and RUBBISH road holding. Buy in haste and repent at leisure. I bought in haste for an MOT and repented for the next couple of years before chucking them away with still some tread left!Dennis Nicholas wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 5:48 pmThank you Philip.philipmasonfrance wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 4:35 pmHi, Dennis.
