Problem with my automatic gearbox

Post by Eric2205 » Mon Feb 05, 2018 12:27 pm

Hello,

A few months ago we talked about the automatic gearbox of my SE5a (B & W 35).
The reverse gear still does not work and I think that it is necessary to accelerate hard so that the speeds go up ...
I'm not sure that my mechanic can repair my gearbox. He tells me to replace my automatic gearbox with a manual gearbox ...
Can you tell me if it's better to repair or buy a new box?
I want to repair but where?

Problem with my automatic gearbox

Post by Eric2205 » Wed Aug 14, 2019 9:11 am

Hello,

I need oil for my B&W 35 I usually use Comma AQF Mineral that I buy in England.

Problem I'll go in holiday with my Se5a and I have more.

My mechanic tells me that Red Dextron III is no problem.

But it seems to me that DEXTRON is not advisable
seem to have read that at volvo he still markets oil for BW35

An advice ?

Dexron should not be used in a BW35. End of story.

Problem with my automatic gearbox

Did you fix the reverse problem or find another gearbox?

Dexron is just a GM trademark, it’s the specification you need to look at. I believe that Dexron II is okay for older boxes (but I don’t think you will find it on any shelf) and at least one variant of Dexron III is claimed to be backwards compatible.

I’d stick with Comma AQF - surely you can order it online?
