MOT Online History check

Post by DJC777 » Thu Oct 22, 2015 8:10 am

You can now check a cars MOT history online even if you don't own the car. Just out in Beta test it should be handy when looking at buying another car.

Pity it does not go that far back - our Coupe is just coming up to starting at zero miles again ( 60 miles short at the moment ) and I would like to know if that's 100,000 ( very doubtful ) 200,000 ( possible ) or 300,000 ( my best bet ) - not that it makes any real difference.

It's a good system, thank you for the tip.

I took my Triumph 650 for MoT this afternoon and checked just now when I got home. It's up to date and shows the pass issued one hour earlier, so must work real time.

Brilliant !

I could check all MOT details of the Flying Sub way back to 2006 8)
As far as mileage goes, only the most recent MOT showed some odometer reading :?:

However I could not get any information on Purple ... registration is not recognized in the system
( funny enough since they both were exported to France on the same Year 2011  )

Did the same for the Chimaera, and found the same results that I had collected in the past, again the odometer reading shows only for the recente MOTs (since 2010)

That's very handy, thanks for the tip-off Dave :D

It presumably only goes back to when the system was computerised, which was IIRC, 2005?

Thanks for the link, very useful indeed.

Though I was disappointed to find that the beautiful gold SE5A I used to own hasn't been MOT'd since 2006 :( I wonder what has become of it :?:

But they have removed the last 3 years mileage from the paper version they hand over on completion of MoT :? , it was handy as at a glance you'd see how many (few  ) miles done each year

Could we make it a 'Sticky' before it gets lost in the mists of time.

Thanks for the link, very useful, surprised to learn that my recently acquired SS1 Was MOT'd in Aug 2010, showing 41,715mls and then in June this year showing 42,427mls. Just 712mls between, five years apart, MOTs. Now showing 42,767 and in the last week I've put 209 of the 340 since the MOT. I must see if I can find what happened between 2011 and 2014 when the previous owner acquired it, as I've no history at all.

I used this link a couple of weeks ago ( to see what became of cars I'd sold on in the past ... sadly deceased it would appear ), but today the link does not work.

The original post did say it was a Beta test version though.
