I don't suppose you can tell the number of each Sabre TI by its chassis number can you Phil ? we have 4A Coupe 407 ( I believe ) GTC 393 and MB 09 but have no idea which one of the 40 Sabres we have. I did not think there were as many as 591 SE4A's by the way - I don't get that many counting from Dons book.

I believe we can tell from the chassis number the build number of a Ti given Sabres start at #44 although the number is plus or minus a couple as they weren't strictly in order. What's the last 4 digits?

I think it's about the 16th Sabre Ti +/- 3 as there are a couple of gaps before and after it (or were, at least).

How do, Phil.
Thanks for posting this topic, I've always found Dons chart in his wonderful book puzzling about the 5a production numbers. He writes for 1974 or 5 that 511 numbers not used and I've never got my head around that. Mine is 93X5788 and from the text about monthly production, I reckon it must have been built in early December. What's the consensus?
Regards, Crusty Snr.

Thanks Phil - easy number to remember - Glynis's cars and her birthday is on 16th.

the original discussion thread is here - I asked Phil to sticky the final post.

Peter - it doesn't say 591 4a, it says 591 3 litre V6.

Crusty,

I don't have the requisite information to hazard a guess - Jim K or Jim P might be better placed to comment?

Has Jim P mentioned it in Slice or on here recently? There's no documentary evidence that I'm aware of to show which 511 were omitted - or that it was a single batch, or random blocks of numbers.

Just been reading an old October 1994 Practical Classics which contains a production list of Scimitar models.
Whilst some numbers are the same or near, some numbers are way different. I am not saying these are right but some may find interesting.

6b numbers changed to 407 when I was registrar (hence 6a numbers increase by 30) :-)

SE6 doesn't include the first 8 cars (nor does Dons book) - they are thought to be pre-production but still exist.

5/5a split will be because they think the 5a started when the prefix changed from 45 to 93 - common mistake.

550 Se6's - SE6 started at 1008 (first 7 being prototypes/pre-production as Jim says above), 6a started at 1552 (yet SE6 stopped at 1550). Confused? You will be
