Where do I look for a nice 6B / GTC

Post by Sinbad » Thu Oct 10, 2019 2:17 pm

Hi - I was a long term Scimitar owner - with over 15 years of 5A and 6A ownership - sadly I left the fold some 10 years ago but now, - "retired" I an looking to return but finding a good SE6B or GTC seems pretty difficult these days - the online auction sites have plenty of fixer uppers and barn finds but I,m now of an age when I want a very good or restored car. Any pointers from club members to where the good (for sale) cars are hiding would be greatly apreciated, I live in South Oxfordshire (OX13), so anything up to 150 miles radius is ok to travel and view, more than that I would need a pile of pictures and info. (Nothing "Brown" please  )
Hopefull looking forward to Scimitar ownership again................

A wanted add on here often prompts someone who is considering selling.

Depending what your budget is, I was made aware a couple of months back that the ex-Peter Misy, and ex-Bill Sims GTC was going on the market. It's a 1983 metallic silver-grey auto with galvanized chassis and has been converted to LPG. The price mentioned was £14k (I've not heard or seen that it has sold so still assume it's available, and it's in the south east I believe)

There have been others (GTC's) recently, but as you say quite variable in quality.

And if I'd searched before, I could have included the link to the sale post within this forum :?

Many thanks for your quick response (nice that Scimitar owners are still as helpful as I remember during my ownership of FEB445W) Although my preference is for a 6B or GTC the purple SE5 coming up for sale at the Southampton auction in a couple of weeks looks very nice.

Sinbad, was it Feb445w, or feb444w? I'm curious because I was the original owner and I've now got her back and am restoring her.

DIgit problems . It was 444W we bought her from an engineer in Brackley. Maybe you? and I did a lot of work in the 90's unleaded heads Rocker studs. Roller followers topped of with Scimitar Covers. I did fit S S headers - A lot noisier than ford cast manifolds though. Also had a respray in Ford Burgandy. Did put an auto fire ext. in the engine bay. Sold to an old boy in Hemel Hemstead who scared me on the test drive because he had never driven a manual car!!! I worked for Esso building their test engines and running the test beds for oil development.. I may still have some pictures of FEB during my ownership
I have sent you an email.

Not exactly the model you might be looking for, but certainly in the "very good" category, MB43 is currently available. http://www.middlebridge-scimitar.co.uk/ ... .php?id=48
