I did that some years ago but was concerned that the paddock didn’t seem secure and anyone could get in at any time

I would alway put a grease on the O ring
Make sure it is a grease that’s not going to affect the rubber
Red rubber grease will be ok

If it has a round body in the block how about rotating it with very long handled adjustable pliers..... google water pump pliers

Single hex shallow sockets are good
Any extension used would benefit from a built in wobble design

Once the bolts are removed replace with cap head bolts

Is the carb torqued to the manifold correctly?
Is the carb isolator cracked
Is the mixture correct when the engine is at NOT
Are the valve clearances too tight when the engine is at NOT

Still worth another coil
