Re: eBay GTC Restoration (now with added frustration)

Managed 6hrs today. Four of them fitting replacement rear lap belts (well over 3hrs removing the old ones and 20 mins fitting the new ones), they'll be replaced with 3 point seatbelts at a later date. I also managed to fit the new rear shocks and springs and make a start on fitting the replacement E...

Re: eBay GTC Restoration (now with added frustration)

Progress is slow but hopefully thorough. I got the 1st full day in the garage for a while today, and managed to get the rear seat backs fitted along with new fuel lines, replacement SS fuel tank, re-chromed fuel cap and rear bumper. All in all it took 9hrs ! http://i657.photobucket.com/albums/uu291/...

Re: High Peak Noggin Run

As much as I'd love to join in, I'm spending the next few weekends ferrying no.1 Daughter to various universities. I just hope she picks a cheap one !

Anyway, Xmas meal sounds like a good idea !

Cheers

Re: Allright everyone

I came within a whisker of buying a 2000E mk3 off my cousin in 1987, obviously it was quite an old car by then but was still a lovely drive. The only thing that stopped the purchase was the insurance quote. I was only 18 at the time......... I decided to plop a 1600 in my MK1 Escort 1300gt and keep ...

Re: eBay GTC Restoration (now with added frustration)

Replaced the steering lock with one from a Mini Metro Mk1. This is a direct plug and play replacement. Spot the difference (there isn't one !) http://i657.photobucket.com/albums/uu291/stevecork/GTC404/IMG_0183.jpg Managed to buy some NOS Range Rover door handles on fleebay, these will replace the ma...

Re: Silicone Hoses for 6B & GTC

Good news ! The hoses that were out on trial (to a mysterious owner ???) get the thumbs up, so the full sets will be available very shortly. Prices are £275 for a full set and a discount will be available to club members (another reason to join up !). I also have a price list for individual hoses, t...

Re: Buy and fit your own tyres:

I once went to Quick Fit to have the tracking done on a Fiesta Mk1 (it was a long time ago), and they tried to sell me some new shock absorbers. They demonstrated my alleged broken shock absober by showing me a leaking one they'd took out of a skip and rocking the car from side to side. Needless to ...

Re: SE6 A/B & GTC Door Handles (Marina/Allegro Type)

In the absence of any great demand I don't think this purchase is going to happen yet. GW have a few new ones in stock, but all for one side  I asked if any more were going to be ordered when I rang for some other bits last week and the answer was "No". I've caved in and bought some new Range ...
