Engines - Middlebridge & SE8

Oh dear, apologies if I have asked a very silly question, perhaps my question should have been " what are the problems / issues that will have to be solved if I try this"

Engines - Middlebridge & SE8

The question is "Can you fit a 2.9 ie Scorpio or Middlebridge, to a GTC / 6b ?"
I've had some partial answers from helpful people on this site, Greeny has such but he has a 5 speed box whereas I want to retain the standard 4 speed + OD.
Info and opinions welcome

Middlebridge engines

Huge Thanks to all contributors above, as a refugee from a pre-war Riley club I well appreciate the immense support and strength this web-site and its forums provide to this club. Now armed with almost all I needed to know, I shall go looking for a suitable engine – preferably not from a Middlebridge.

Middlebridge engines

Some information guys please :- Did some at least Middlebridges use the Cologne 2.9 engine ? What I have learnt is that this is the one with chain drive to the Cam and has 6 exhaust ports. They probably use EFI but can one fit a carb manifold ? Is there an engine service supliment / manual ? Where a...

Cologne dipstick.

On the topic of Cologne dipsticks, My tube has just become loose in the block - it comes out ever-so-easily when checking the oil. Its then very difficult to get back in the block due to not being able to see where it goes. I was thinking either araldite or loctite; any suggestions ?

GTC hood suppliers?

In what part of the country do you live ?
I had a tonneau cover for a GTC individually made by Guy Broom at
www.westcountrytrimmers.co.uk in Devon.
The price was competitive and the quality I would rate as good. Seeing the care he took in fitting I dont think he would damage the car.

Steamy GTC

Hmmm. . . ..... the idea of AirCon in a GTC is amusing. Have any of you chaps tried putting the hood down, remember it only rains in first gear.

Ignition cut out

I once had a similar fault that was eventually traced to the coil breaking down, mostly when hot. I'm even thinking of moving my Scimitar coil to the side of the engine bay, so here's hoping your new coil zonks it.

New EU Design rules

I read in the media that, because of accidents involving pedestrians and electric cars, our friends in Brussels are planning to introduce new laws that will require all new cars to make a noise - where will this leave Rolls Royce ?

3rd gear position back of rod catching side of underbody

Outcome Car now all back together again and O/D now perfect. The rearmost of the three bolts holding the gearchange assembly to the tunnel was loose. I'm certain over time the rod for left / right movement of the gearlever was progressively pushing the switch away leaving it de-activated. My thanks ...
