thanks for the info i'll have a play tonight,
I have a stainless tank so not sure where the sender unit comes from, but it has 2 spade connectors.
best photo I can find of tank is below, I'm at work so can't get another at the mo

yes thanks that what I'm getting, there is 2 connectors on the sender unit, one has this 10v supply, they both just go into the loom. does the other wire return to something or would it be earthed, I'm looking at a way to test the gauge from there or test the sender unit without taking it out of the...

mines red which I am going to stay with when I repaint, but the orange is cool.
Looks like a very good base to 'start' a resto,

no problem, I'm a bit of a perfectionist too , so often overdo things, hence doing a nut and bolt rebuild on a car I've never worked on before and only have 18 months to do it all :shock:

Thanks yes there is a gap to the outer sill , but it's glassed at the top and the bottom so pretty rigid, I'm going to leave it as is. the main contact point at the top with the holes in, is totally covered top and bottom. finally replaced the sill reinforcements, got some stainless steel ones made from a local company and after a lot of messy fibre glassing they are in. got the heater matrix back in
