Car Insurance

Due to the current government restrictions on movements and my ceaseless amazement that my insurance costs go up and up even now I'm travelling less and less (and a lot slower than I used to!)...I comforted myself when the insurance companies told me it's all about risk.......so I wonder if we shou...

Intercoolers

If the cars original and unmolested, id also suggest a new wastegate actuator. They go soggy with age (dont we all  ) but effectively they creep open early losing performance. From memory they are approx 7psi from the factory but they shouldnt move until that preset whereas with age they start...

6psi is around standard and you normally get more than the book figure (from Nissan of 135bhp) as the Scimitar exhaust is a lot less restrictive than the Nissan one.
In that case are there better exhaust systems to be had than the reliant one ?

Look up Craig Hughes’s Hot Hatch Hunter article on http://www.ss1turbo.co.uk/hot_hatch_hunting.htm
The intercooler is part of a package but without to much expensive stuff you can be seeing 192 bph.
I will re read the above as you suggest many thanks crouchie

It doesn’t increase power itself (not strictly true, but at stock boost levels it won’t increase much at all) but what it does allow you to do is turn up the wick which does. The explanation is power is based on the weight of air (for which the corresponding weight of fuel is added) which roughly e...

Reminds me of how we got speed bumps.
Regards Terry H
I thought speed bumps and the other modern art painted on all our roads was courtesy of the EU grants to county councils some years back , I particularly like the roundabout lanes lines :D three into two etc etc

Legal beavers out there ?

I took our cars out for a run around he block today mainly to clean the rust off the brakes and turn the tyres. My wife was worried that I may be stopped by the fuzz for being out, plenty of taxis out there and and builders working on house extensions etc by the way, anyway back to the point. I thi...

I think it’s great that Jaguar kept the family rust traps into the 20th century with the X100, X200 & 400 while trying to compete with Mercedes and BMW :D
If there’s one thing Jaguar do well, it’s tradition.
Indeed 😂

I believe you can still get a new chassis for a 1950s Land Rover so there will be people here that can do such work and keep it in house so to say 👍
