MHIBA 2017- Scimiscare!

Good luck with the trip, and dare I ask, just out of interest, which plug manufacturer and type, and how long were they in the car?
I used to be heavily involved in Quality Assurance so I'm always interested in quality and reliability of components. :?

Sabre Six exhaust system

Presumably Argyle Motors were one of the Reliant distributors who competed under their own name. I've briefly searched the Motor Sport archive, there's mention of Raymond Baxter in the 1964 RAC Rally, but nothing comes up for Argyle, apart from references to the vintage car of that name. :( In the w...

Sabre Six exhaust system

Those Sabre 4 pictures are good. And can we assume the car was taxed for 12 months, expiring in 1964, so a 1963 modification?
As you say, what racing history can be established? I don't know where to look, but I'd guess the archivist side of Dave would know.

Se5a Rolling rejuvenation project

Hi Tim, Don't stay away too long, your cheery wit (or is it weary chit?) will be missed. Good luck with the family stuff - I'm in a similar situation, only allowed out on Friday to Curbs, grand-daughter's birthday clashes with the Sabre Week-end in September, etc., etc. And I hope you can find time ...

Don't you realise by now you are talking to a load of pedants (or did I mean peasants?) :D

Sabre Six exhaust system

Dave, Tony Heath emailed to say both Richard Wos and Neil Condliffe did a lot of research to meet the FIA Appendix K and both raced with the cast manifolds. However, on your Sporting Reliants website you have a "Motorsport History" section which covers the Le Mans prototype 876HWD. More importantly ...

DVLA vehicle lists - access on-line - problems

Hi Chris, If you've been following the FBHVC News in Slice, then you will probably already be aware that the DVLA database has serious problems with the fields holding Manufacturers data. If the Manufacturer hasn't entered a code, then Box 1 and Box 2 (Make and Model) can be wrong (and now, apparent...

DVLA vehicle lists - access on-line - problems

Just logged into the link, the first (23.9k, i.e. small size) Table opens OK in Excel (Windows 10 asked me which app to use).
Perhaps the problem is with the file size, VEH0120 is over 16Mb
The hash might mean you need to use XSLX to open it?

Well, being a Rochdale lad I appreciate the feedback from Newhey and Dukinfield. :D Being fairly new to the Club I don't yet understand the issues, but I think Speedy makes a very important point - what is the primary aim of the meeting? By defining the aims we can focus on what we need to do to sup...

ScimFest@Curborough 2017

I've been in the Club now for a few years (longest gestation in history? :D ) and wonder if someone could give me three good reasons why I should attend? This is a serious question, although I expect there'll be a few facetious responses, knowing you lot out there. There are so many other events tak...

Looks like you had the same issue that I had on 660XYB then.

I've just made a funds transfer to the RSSOC account, payee ref Philip N.
I trust this is OK and hope to be at Curbs soon.

PMs don't seem to be working for me either, twice I tried to raise one, but nothing appears in my outbox (i.e. they should be waiting for the recipient to read them); it says "no PMs".
Might be finger trouble, as I rarely send PMs so I might have the procedure wrong.

Interesting feedback on the oil issue.
For lovers of old engines, this clip is quite interesting, the owner said it was missing....

Jim, Just to let you know the link worked OK for me, better quality than the photocopy I have in the 660XYB ring binder. Terry Rickard told me he has an incomplete set of notes written by the Reliant competitions manager - perhaps he'll see if there's anything relevant to this quest. The search goes...
