Re: Look what came in the post today

Lovely wheels!
Makes my delivery look a bit tame
Adding Hazard warning to the Sabre Six; unfortunately the new fuse box with LEDS probably won't work as I'm still positive earth!

Re: Small Sports Fuel Tanks

IMHO I'd be concerned about your breather pipe.
If used competitively, is it possible the tank could drain if inverted?
Does it need a "u" bend or loop in it?

Re: Scimitar presentation on Autopolis

Perhaps someone ought to put a comment at the bottom of the Autopolis page asking how to correct the many errors, to prevent the perpetuation of misinformation. (Not me, though, I don't know enough about Scimitars!)

Re: I ve been scimitard !

I am using Penrite GB40 in my Moss gearbox (has overdrive) and a suitalbe alternative is Red Line MT90. You can Google for the spec. sheets.
From my experience I'd agree with the battery comments - either Halfords or Bosche, and get the highest capacity that will fit in the space available.

Re: PUJ850R RESTORATION

Halfords sell the old blue antifreeze but they call it Silicate for some reason best known to the chemists among us. The other stuff (coloured Orange) OAT is IIRC Organic Acid Technology, not good for older engines. However, if you want to be environmentally friendly, the best antifreeze of all is f...

Re: Mechanical fan pulley

Lots of rings cut from a bicycle inner-tube and stacked? You'll need lots of hand soap to lubricate the rubber to get it in (don't know where this is going !!)

Re: Silver on Black number plates - Historic Class

Not directly on-subject, but I've just read the FIVA guide to Users of Historic Vehicles, and it classes Historic as anything from the start of motoring up to 1980. There seems to be hardly any agreement on the cut-off date. Also, one of my Christmas presents was a new Satnav, with European maps, in...

And according to the Tilton spec. you can roll the car and the brakes will still work!

Re: Silver on Black number plates - Historic Class

But what about the Le Mans Classic in July? I hadn't planned to go anywhere near Paris, but are there any issues anywhere else? All advice gratefully received (in addition to the 2 x breathalyzers, 2 x hi-viz jackets, red triangle, spare bulbs)?

Re: Reinstate 25yr Rolling Tax Exemption Petition

IMHO I fear the DVLA might "harmonise" the age for not taxing along with the age for no MOT, and we will end up with lots of 26-year-old cars on the road (hot hatches in particular) in an unsafe state, driven by unsafe drivers who are uninsured. Not many of today's drivers even know how to change oi...
