ss1 upper steering column bush

Same as all reliant economy vehicles, readily available from reliant and scimitar dealers for not much money.

SS1 1800 CVH Project Steering column length?

Thanks Jim

Do wonder where your short lower column has come from. Can't think it is a Chevette item.

Maybe Peter's car has the same shorter item. In which case time for a swap!

SS1 1800 CVH Project Steering column length?

All detailed on the steering rack thread why repeat myself?

Suggested a solution also. Chevette coupling.

Look what came in the post today

Was cheaper to buy these NOS kits than it was buying a new cable!

Guess what the one thing I forgot to disconnect before pulling my engine out was...

SS1 1047 "KMG" 1300 frugal and fast enough.

Time to pull this thread back from the depths on the basis the ball is rolling again with modifications to the 1300. Car has been used occasionally over past few years, not racking up the mileage I used to on account of it no longer being my main car and there being 2 nippers to take out on most tri...

What, you mean you aren't upgrading the SS1 to PAS and A/C?

I expected more from you tbh.

Eek. Ok that's worse than mine!

Begs the question what's the oil pick up clearance like on an ET? I can't recall from the couple of times I've had one apart. Maybe I'm worrying about nothing.

Great to see it coming along, hope you can get the bonnet closed now, afterthought bonnet bulges aren't cool if you ask me.

So then, where's the screamer exiting, similar to batty? Scorch door marks because race car?

SS1 rads are weigh in at about a tenner a pop down your local scrap merchant.

How's the sump, if it's rust free and usable I could do with it. Mine got "puckered" when it went over the rough at curbs. Was umming and arring over the new one from RPW before you had it.

SST H993WGF

Who knows why eh. It's a shame, but no point getting pent up about it. The way it's been cut up doesn't seem to follow any logic and I wonder if it's a spiteful two fingers up over something. Can't recall whom it was I sold the hardtop to buy they were talking keenly about getting the car ready for ...

Just been posted on Facebook marketplace as breaking for spares. Body already cut up.

What a senseless waste.

Guess the other 20 or so SST 1800ti left just got that bit rarer!

SS1 1800 CVH Project Steering column issues!

Correct rack then.

Wrong ignition barrel though looking at pics again, metro by the looks of it.
So if you were trying to align it with the shroud then that might be the issue.

Don't you just love part finished project cars?

Sounds like you have a Chevette rack fitted with the shorter pinion. How many turns is it lock to lock?
Chevette rack does fit, but really it needs the Chevette flexible coupling as well as it's a longer unit.

Ah that's interesting to know, I helped with supplying the moulded/ shaped pipes for copying, but don't think we had concluded the heater and choke hoses.

A costly but very worthwhile upgrade.

Looks a good car for a good price.
