Re: Joe's Scimitar 1972 GTE 5a - (Fuel Injecting The Essex)

Hi Joe, Looking at your sump baffle plate makes me think the return oil path to the collection bowl may be somewhat restrictive as the returning oil can only enter the bowl through the center hole; this may slow down oil return enough to cause oil starvation under certain conditions. Windage created...

Re: Coupe Build From Australia

Have you considered any extra strength around the fuel filler ? When fitting the tank and connecting tube the body can flex where the filler cap and pipe are mounted Also consider the limited amount of thread for the nut on the filler tube I addressed issues earlier in the build by reinforcing this...

Continued from previous instalment; Body GRP Repairs The specialist body shop has made good progress with the bodywork. As it now stands, all GRP repairs have been carried out and the body has been sprayed in primer. As well, the underside has been prepared, sealed, primed, painted in stone guard pa...

Re: Montée historique Internationale, Ballon d'Alsace,Aug 20

This looks like a great event and one I would dearly love to attend even if I do live on the opposite side of the world.

Will this be on again or was it a once only ?

Continued from previous instalment; Ignition The computer controlled ignition destined for this build will require a pack of 6 electronic coils (one per cylinder as is in common nowadays); these next needs to be sourced. Typically modern engines use small bodied electronic coils that attach directly...

Re: Coupe Build From Australia

I am still hard at work on this never ending project. As Geoff mentions it is the middle of winter here; cold grey and miserable (I hate it) although this has not stop me from tinkering on this car. I have the body back from the repair shop now (it has been away 16 months), all the GRP work has been...

Re: Coupe Build From Australia

Nice work Victor - I like the Cam Sensor setup. I've just machined up a trigger wheel for Joe's EFI Conversion and I decided to put the missing toothed wheel on the back face of the crank pulley. To my mind this should make fan-belt changes simplified and reduce the need for doweling the pickup bra...

Re: Coupe Build From Australia

Victor If the toothed wheel is mounted on the outer element of the torsional damper will relative movement (albeit small) of the damper elements have an effect on the crank position sensor accuracy? Unless you have mounted it on the inner part - I can't quite determine the mounting arrangement from...

Door Quarter Vent Base Seals Se4- 5 Remanufactured

As a compliment to the newly remanufactured quarter vent seals I have decided to make available my own version of door quarter vent base seals. I am aware remanufactured seals are available from the traders, but I find these are not to my standard and I wish for a better product to fit on my own car...

Re: Se5a Quarterlight seal - Remanufactured!

Just to set this straight; the club did purchase the initial batch of 50 pairs of seals, and for that I am very grateful. As I received quite a lot of interest from others, I decided to have some more seals made to satisfy this demand. I do not wish to compete with the club for sales, and when I lis...
