Cracking event, first time I have done the international circuit. Very impressed by Brian,s times in a roadgoing GTE. Got a few helpful tips from corky. Thanks to all for use of the garage. I hope both Steve ‘s problems are not too serious and solved before their next events. MR2 going ok. Easier no...

Overdrive Selection advice

There should be no need to pussy foot an overdrive provided you stick to 3rd and 4th gear . All the overdrive does is apply a brake to the outer ring gear to change to ratio. No need to de clutch. If anything I would have though de clutching would apply more shock load.

Not been for a while so would welcome some advice.

I plan to arrive Fri pm. Presumably I can get in and unload from my trailer? I gather you can sign on Fri eve.

Ideally I would leave the trailer there until at least Monday.

Abingdon 8 June 2019

Me, in the MR2. The carters did it last year as well

Good points, 2 tracks and at least 8 runs in the day, friendly and helpful. Airfield so plenty of run off.

Bad points, quite pricy for one event, and whilst one track is quite good, the other is a run down the airfield with a couple of chicanes.

Should i burn in hell?

I am minded to agree with Joe. Modern Euro 6 diesels are very complex. Older ones have emissions problems. LPG sounds good. My Coupe would do 30 mpg on a run, as will most Essex powered cars with a properly set up 38DGAS. Unless you do 10k miles plus p.a. I would stay with this. Do you have overdrive?

V6 essex timing gear

As an aside, it is interesting that many modern engines (my MR2 for example) have non interference valve gear, i.e. if the cam belt breaks valves do not meet pistons, whilst most old engines do! Progress I supose.

I would add the heads and inlet manifold first. The 4 carb attachment studs on the inlet manifold are ideal to lift on, being well balanced.
