The level of available adjustment should be enough to compensate for being a tooth out. Remember there's 2 adjusters - the one via the bolt on the block, and the second on the mounting plate behind. Dizzy's not 180 degrees out perhaps? And remember the rotor turns anti-clockwise. Plug leads definite...

What's the history with the car Dave? Was it running OK but suddenly developed this fault? Has anything else been done recently that might have brought this on?

Did you (or the auto electrician) test the crank angle sensor? Sounds very similar to my experience - car would sometimes (not very often) decide to start, and would appear to run fine. But after switching off it wouldn't want to start again. (Does yours consistently re-start when hot?)

Yellow 5 or 5A on You’ve Been Framed

Spotted tonight during a dash-cam clip. Look like fairly modern alloys. Anyone on here?

1974 Dealers list

Couple of dealer ads, also from the September 1974 issue of Fast Car. Interesting to see the reg numbers listed in the Crown Motors ad. Quick search found that 3 reg's no longer exist, while 2 were taxed up to 2004 and 2008 respectively, so may still exist somewhere. GTE-Dealer2.jpg GTE-Dealer1.jpg

Brilliant Darren! Hard to believe they're over 46 years old. Interesting garage name as well. :)

The pulley cover on mine can be put on multiple wrong ways, but I’m not sure if it’s the same with yours. (I’ve got the v shaped belt while you’ve got the flat version.) For a bit of piece of mind, you can remove the dizzy cap and check the rotor arm is pointing towards lead 1 (i.e. at about 10 past...

And while you’re dabbing paint on the correct mark, dab a spot on the point of that pointer. Makes it easier to see both when testing with a strobe.

This is the one were you remove the distributor and turn it hearing the injectors click etc?
Yes, that's the one. There's another way of testing it (with multimeter). Both methods are mentioned in this thread.

dizzy or AFM first? If you've checked and cleaned the AFM, I'd be tempted to leave that for now. Just ensure the connection is firmly in place. If it sounds like it's running on 3 cylinders, could it be a blocked injector? I'd do a quick dizzy test. (I'm sure i've linked to it elsewhere.) It isn't ...
