Re: K series starter motor What's it off?

Be careful here there is no such thing as" the Sierra one". There are numerous ones depending on Sierra spec.Of the two that I returned the first was a Bosch unit with the solenoid at 90degrees to the original. The second had the solenoid in the right place with the mounting bolt holes exactly as ne...

Re: K series starter motor What's it off?

Peter I am still sourcing one see my last post on your original thread. Its a shock to realise I have been on this trail since 5th Feb. I was told confidently that the starter is from a Sierra 1.8CVH. The trouble is we live in a world where most motor factors say "give me your reg sir" you tell them...

Re: Porsche 928 project Auto gearbox issue

Steve not sure where you are in cheshire, if you can get the car to Crewe go to Autolock in Macon Way, long established auto gearbox specialist. They do not charge for advice, are helpful and definately worth a try. I have had Scimitar and Jaguar Borg warner boxes repared there and recently took a D...

Re: Living with a 5/5A

Rob (zeb) the best test is to drive one. The 6 series are quite different and Reliant were building for a wider market rather than natural progression from 5/5a.. I have a standard 5a -seats interior etc, but it has a Rover v8 and 5 speed box. It is untuned and similar to an essex powered car except...

Re: What cars did you see today?

This afternoon a superb Jaguar XK120 roadster at Ternhill -jcn of A53 and A41, and again on A53 heading west from Market Drayton an Austin Healey 100/6 loveley jubbly. I recognised the chap with the XK as I had seen him earlier in the week driving a mint condition 1930s sporting car possibly an alvi...

Re: Best sounding car / engine - ever

As the owner of a GTC and a 5a both with V8 engines they are high on my list. Having owned an SP250 I totally agree with SIW. A near neighbour has an early XK120 and it is driven enthusiastically - sounds superb. Finally Merlin engines - in the summer a privately owned spitfire aircraft is flown ove...

Re: V8 Auto Conversion

have a look on the website V8 church.co.uk there is information on fitting into an se5a as well as a 6. The late Don Pither fitted a V8 into a 5a many years ago and back issues of slice document other conversions. Slice 205 has a comprehensive article by Colin Watson on fitting the Rover V8. Peter F...
