Re: R.I.P Edward ( Eddy ) Shepard ( Lancs Noggin )

Sad news indeed.

Did Eddy also own an ex Royal car presumably ex Princess Anne ? This 6a had a full leather interior superbly done, and is the only one I have seen close up.

RIP Eddy

Re: Unreliability-totally frustrating!

I was just about to suggest looking at the HT side with a strobe. Have this ready when the car "dies". Also try opening the fuel filler cap, the vent could be blocked.
Personally I would stick with the weber, normally they are fine.

Re: Sunroofs - how many different factory types?

It would be interesting to find out if any of the ex-employees or dealers know. I seem to remember hearing that the metal sliding version was a factory option on the coupe? I owned a coupe HND 88E many moons ago, and that had the solid sliding panel described by Jim. It appeared to be factory fitte...

Re: Moronic mechanic on Car S.O.S

I had a GTE in my workshop with the front wheels on ramps. The rear end had been jacked up and was sitting on axle stands. I was in the process of lowering the rear of the car with a jack, having removed the axle stands. Before the rear wheels hit the deck the car came off the ramps in a rush and pu...

Re: Can't buy this anymore , why?

I have recently bought some "Marine Clean" from Frosts who advocate the use of this as a degreaser before using the POR15 paints on metal. The degreaser seems very effective. Like others on here I grew up using Gunk and occasionally Jizer on car and motorcycle parts. In recent times I have used "Pav...

Re: Modern Tin Top cc purchase

Not sure how many seats you need, if you can manage with 2 have a look at SLK Mercedes. I have owned and run the 230 "Kompressor", and currently run a 320 manual. The price of many of these fall below your budget but you would need to look closely at the bodywork, as Mercedes did not apply enough co...

Re: 3.0 air cleaner

The metal 3litre air filter will fit a DGAS carb fitted to a 2.8 6b /8. The inlet trunk will need some metal cutting from the end. I have done this and retained the summer/winter air control. Others have cut the trunk closer to the can. If you get hold of one and place it on the carb it is very easy...

Re: coaming reflection

One of the best interior cleaners which will remove polish etc is called "Groom" and is sold by Halfords (and hopefully others). Not sure if its obtainable in your location. It will remove the shine that is causing the reflection.

Re: Period Pictures / Old Photos / Memories

Jeff thanks very much for letting us view this archive. In the events list and Coombe Abbey in particular, the last picture of a silver coupe took my interest. That coupe belonged to Dennis and Joan Maynard from Audlem. (JFX 750F) It had quite extensive work done on it in Robin Rews workshop by the ...

Re: Robin Rew

I would echo Rogers words on Robin Rew . A memorable occasion for me and my then very young daughter was collecting an engine from Robins workshop and home at Greens Norton, and having a "blast" in a coupe that he had turbocharged. Like many others I had found his Rewmination articles in Slice very ...

Re: Beware - they are out there!

I have just sold an ML270 (2002model) after 5 years ownership. Much loved and enjoyed, but not without a few problems along the way. I had problems with the catalytic converters putting the car in limp mode with a fault code that read "Charge Pressure Low". This was not identified by the "Star" diag...
