Re: Headlamp part needed for MOT - anyone got one?

Much appreciated, thanks. Happy with any part you think is serviceable.

Re: Headlamp part needed for MOT - anyone got one?

If you're happy to sell me a new one (or a used one - I'm not fussy) and post it, I'll take one; having no car renders travelling a bit tricky. I can pay by bank transfer, cheque, or suitcases of cocaine, with payment details to the PM inbox :) Be nice to get it road legal again; I know what happens...

Re: Headlamp part needed for MOT - anyone got one?

Being negative transport, I can't travel anywhere to pick one up, sadly :(

Obviously happy to pay costs for one. Unless my memory deceives me, it's the right side.

Re: Headlamp part needed for MOT - anyone got one?

That makes a lot of sense; particularly regarding letting water in. I have a suspicion that a damn plant that managed to slip a tendril into the top of the garage guided water and some kind of sap onto just the wrong point of the car also managed to drip it onto the top of the light. Taking the muck...

Re: Headlamp part needed for MOT - anyone got one?

The one that doesn't pop-up anymore under its own power but really should do :) That's what I understood from the call, at least. To be sure I really need to go over there and have the guy point at the bit that needs replacing for me, I think. Not that there are many parts in it; I took the lids off...

Headlamp part needed for MOT - anyone got one?

The MOT has reached a sticking point; as described to me over the phone by the guy doing the MOT (whom I trust; last year he waved the Scim through without any work needed - this year it's a couple of replacement brake hoses, for which I've gone with just a standard pair that fit well enough), it ju...

Re: The roll-bar fitting diagram

Right. Now that I know they're there, there is a better than even chance that this time I'll see them. There is a small but real chance that I won't find them until someone physically points at them...

Edit, sixty seconds later: Oh yeah. There they are. Right in front of me. Many thanks!

The roll-bar fitting diagram

I am quite sure (not completely sure) that at one point I had some kind of roll-bar fitting diagram; what bolts onto where, that sort of thing.

Does anyone have a copy, or did I just imagine it?

Re: Lights - high-beam or nothing!

Swapping relay R7 for R4 appears to make no difference whatsoever.

I should have a go at simply getting the motor going. You say pull out R4, and then connect the positive terminal of the battery to the slot in the fusebox where pin 87 of R4 was?

Re: Lights - high-beam or nothing!

There is no noticable takeup by the motors when I am manually raising or lowering the lights.

I'll get some shiny new relays. I understand that it's possible to buy the wrong ones; anyone got a link to a definitely correct one? I'll buy a handful.

Re: Lights - high-beam or nothing!

Here's a picture from the pdf guide, showing what I thought was the relay currently referring to as R5 (or R6). http://s12.postimg.org/desyangd9/heres_One.png Ignore that arrow. You can just see the manual winder on the top right, and relay is over on the left. That's the one I checked. Is it the wr...

Re: Lights - high-beam or nothing!

Having got the right relay, I can see a nice 14V on pin 87 of the relay by the right-hand headlight. I think it was the same no matter what state the light switch was in. That pin 14V, everything else zero. A bit tricky to be sure as I had to slide the socket a few mm back from the relay to be able ...

Re: Lights - high-beam or nothing!

Fuses all seem fine (I used the conveniently placed negative terminal of the battery as my zero level, and checked the voltages on each side of the fuses). EDIT: Removed the bit on the relays; got confused by the relay numbering system marked on the relay cover, and the (slightly different) one in t...

Re: Lights - high-beam or nothing!

It's still road legal without the nose, right? Now that I think about it, I wonder how much I can take off before it becomes illegal to drive.
