Air cleaner housing

Hi everyone. really want to get rid of my horrible K&N filter when i buy a new carb this week. The original "Pancake" housings seem rarer than hens teeth on ebay. i wondered if anyone had tried one of these and if it would even fit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WEBER-CARB-CARBURETTOR-AIR-FILTER-PLENUM-...

SE6a Drive belt size

That's my guess - someone's fitted an early carb (following images just samples from the web) later flow & return carb http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2009/12/201006041800846206DSC00552.JPG early (feed only) carb: https://www.clutchkitcenter.com/media/images/weber/18930020-1.jpg Hi Roger . Timing and whistling sound

Thanks Oldconn my suspicion was that it was the alternator. Alternator is new and coincides with the start of the whistle so makes perfect sense!

I'll investigate For air leaks now to get to the bottom of the rough idle

Thanks

Timing and whistling sound

Hi everyone. 2 problems here possibly related , possibly not. Sorted the engine timing yesterday with the help of a mechanic friend and the Autobooks manual. Also discovered the vacuum advance was not doing anything before and thats now working. I couldn't believe how much better the car drives!! It...

Breakdown advice HELP!

Hi Peter. It felt different to when my fuel pump was on the way out last year. More of a general sluggishness than sudden fuel starvation. Might get him to check the timing, as the MOT centre said it was off, and you yourself suggested that my timing may need looking at when i posted a couple of wee...

Battery test

Hi Peter Thanks for that. yeah i had a feeling the gauge wasn't that reliable after doing my test. I feel Glynis's pain! I might actually try wiring it straight to the battery like you did. Yeah the Optima has been great but its been 9 years now so was thinking it might be time to replace . Th...

Battery test

Hi Everyone I ran some tests on my battery yesterday as I’ve had it 9 years now and was thinking of purchasing a new one. It’s an Optima yellow top, although I’ll probably opt for the much cheaper Enduroline 049 from Tanya batteries if I get a new one. I just wanted to know if people thought my res...
