Scimitar values in 2020

I've noticed over the past year Scimitar GTEs for for sale for 5 grand upwards. Not too long ago they were about 2-3 grand, a project considerably less (sub £1000). Sold my dads 6B 3 years ago that he only got to use for less than 12 months for just 2 grand. Now that car would be selling for twice t...

You don't get a receipt from Halfords!

Nothing new with the new ways or trying to coerce the customer into passing over their personal information, whether it be their email address, name, address or other details, with the ridiculous (and unproven) excuse that it will spread the virus (if it exists, which I've never believed). If they a...

Scimitar Workshop manual

Hi, just doing a clear out at the moment and I have a Scimitar Workshop manual if anyone wants it. Large binder. Would need someone to come and pick up though, ideal for someone local (I'm in the Wigan area). Failing that it would have to go in the bin which would be a pity, but I've no use for it m...

Ormskirk Motorfest Scimitars

Not a spotted really (well not yet), but just checked out the entries for this year's Motorfest in Ormskirk this Bank hol Sunday. Saw two GTE"s entered, one that's seen numerous times and seen at local shows and meets etc (a cream/brown 6a), and the other is a SE5 (doesn't say 5a just 5) in red. Any...

Parts question

Here's some pics just to give you an idea of what parts I have. Hope they are clear enough. The ones below have been stored in the loft for years, not sure how long they've been up there though. Some have Lucas and Lockheed on them. Untitled.jpg Untitled2.jpg Untitled3.jpg Untitled4.jpg Untitled5.jp...

Parts question

I have never heard of a CVH engine before, so I've no idea what car the parts came off. The Ford engines my dad had in his cars where Pinto's, an Essex V6 and a Duratec. They could've come from a scrap yard to use as spares, but maybe they weren't suitable. Regardless if they are worth anything or n...

Parts question

Been a few days since I have had time to reply. I don't think the air cleaner is from a Pinto, or at least a Pinto that my dad had housed in one of his cars. He had two cars with a Pinto, one that was originally housed in his self built Tiger Cat kit car, but that engine was left at a garage he had ...

Parts question

Anyone know if these parts are worth anything and whether they are from an Esex V6?. I'm aware that ones an inlet manifold. They were found in my mums garage sitting on a shelf. My dad owned 3 Scimitars in total, the last one being a 6b. Previous to this was a 6a which was scrapped about 8 years ago...

Engine replacement for kit car

I am somewhat dubious of the respray cost, but the chap did say it wasn't a full respray only respraying what was needed and that it wasn't being stripped down to fibreglass. I agreed with him when he said people are greedy when it comes to these kinds of things, but I'm sure others on here will dis...

Engine replacement for kit car

Thanks for the link. I suppose the transport cost would be considerably more than that £300 for a two way journey. Looking at the link I wouldn't know where to begin. As it was my late fathers car I had very little involvement on it, ie what precisely issues it had prior to being laid up. From what ...

Engine replacement for kit car

I don't know for certain if the engine will be a dog, but the bloke seems to think its in good order. Why a Scimitar was brought in and the Essex taken out I don't know. Unlikely that I will see it running unless he brought the engine to mine and fitted it in. Just a pity there's no-one local to me ...

Engine replacement for kit car

Ok this isn't strictly Scimitar specific but still involving an Essex engine, or rather replacing one (possibly for another) for my late father's E-Type kit car. I had a chap come on buy the fibreglass hardtop which came with the e-type kitcar, which I decided to sell as it wasn't needed (£200 he ga...

6a near Formby

Spotted (only fleetingly) a two tone SE6a travelling along the A565 around Ince Blundell near Formby on Friday afternoon. Colour looked like brown over cream. Quite likely the same 6a that's seen at various local meets and shows that sports the same colour combo (unlikely to be another car in the ar...

Tracing my dads SE5a

Yeah that was me:0. I had to create another account with a different email account as my old one got hacked into and I couldn't remember the password and username for the forum so had to start from scratch. I forgot about posting that message regarding the 5a we had. I'm not sure if it did go overse...

Tracing my dads SE5a

I'm curious to know if anyone has an info on one of my dads past GTE 5a which he owned from about the mid 90s til about mid 2000. Asking just purely out of curiosity as I've often wondered what happened to the car after he sold it. I do vividly recall my dad saying that the car was sold overseas, wh...
