Next job on cards is to fix the wipers. Previous owner at left the nut on the passenger wiper spiot loose which made the hole in the body much bigger, so much so the bottom washer could come up through the body. The Bundy tube was also badly bent. So I removed to whole lot, not something I intend do...

July 2018 Starting to use the scimitar on a more daily basis, having taking it to work a few times a week and made a 200 mile round trip to a show in Dublin. Whan to tidy up a few bits. The Mountney steering wheel was split and looking in bad shape. Got another one in better condition which I glued ...

After some poor running I realised I had rust particles in my fuel line. New filters for pump and filter king regulator. Gave the carb a full rebuild with a kit from QRG. Also changed all service items of the ignition system, leads, cap, rotor, points and coil. The later turned out to be duff, leadi...

With the car away with my mechanic I cracked on with some of the shiny bits. Polish up the spare wheel and painted with chrome paint. It's ok for the spare but seems to be "soft" for actual wheels 20180316_181530.jpg 20180318_200439.jpg Had a friend polish up the aluminumin nose section, and I paint...

You are dead right thanks, espically as part of the return line is garden hose. I am writing this post retrospectively so fuel line change was one of the next jobs on the list. Once the fuel tank was dropped I got a phone call from my mechanic describing the fuel tank as more of a fuel bath ...

March 2018 Now that I can get a good look underneath and around the car I can make a list for my mechanic and a shopping list for me. Front bolt on the thermostat housing has the threads exposed where the inlet manifold as disintergrated, lucky the PO left one in the back for me. There is a se6 to s...

The paint looks good from here - looks a nice project :)

Mike.
Thanks, paint is "good" no cracks or crazing a few bumps on the wings. A few over sprays and one small area that the paint is light.
Money no object I would love to repaint!

Feb 2018 I pulled the plugs and poured some wd-40 down each of the bores and left it sit for a week. Fresh set of plugs fitted. Removed and cleaned fuel gauze at pump and carb. Quick clean and adjust of the points. New battery fitted. Turned over a couple of times and she ran, Smokey as hell after t...

So it's about time I started a thread for my "trusty white steed" as it's been in my possession for over a year! My interested in Scimitars started over 20 years ago when sat on the back of my dads tractor I seen a rather well used brown se5a come up the road behind us. Seeing a Scimitar on a rural ...
