Unusal starting problem

Sounds like ignition switch is intermittent and a missing ballast feed to the coil maybe.

Cooling fan run time

How long does your fan run for ? mine only runs for 10 to 15 seconds and doesn't seen to make any difference to temp gauge in my experience normally the cooling fans on most cars run a fair bit longer If it is starting and stopping it has to be making a difference or the sensor wouldn't be controll...

He has a manual choke !...therefore not really any pumping required is there ?
So how does neat fuel get into the inlet manifold before cranking otherwise?

Your thoughts on a random misfire.

The factory method of starting is two pumps. It sets the autochoke and puts some neat fuel into the manifold. Six pumps is going to put far more than required, but it shouldn't cause a cold engine to flood. I always fit BPR6ES plugs, so I be.ieve you have the wrong ones. Can't recall which way the h...

It’s not a standard part that I have ever seen.

Sabre driving lamps - when do they come on?

Jim suggests that the Sabre has front fog lights rather than driving lights?

Sabre driving lamps - when do they come on?

F14 is B6. I have power from the switch S19 and nothing getting to thefuse, so looks like there may be some loom damage.

Bogging at 4000 rpm

It isn't a problem for me to send it to you! I have been trying to find some AQF anywhere in France for Eric, but have drawn a total blank with that too. Looks like a business opportunity exists for a classic supplier in France. ;-)

Sabre driving lamps - when do they come on?

Thanks. looks similar to the SS1 then. I have fuse B6 intact and feeding power to the red/yellow brings the lamps on. There is no power onthe fat red, the other side of the fuse. The switch has a thinner red as an output which is live but nothing between the two. There must be a joint there or a rel...

Essex head gasket failed?

The bubbling is normal, it is the coolant expanding. This is why the cap has a return valve, as the engine cools it creates a vacuum to draw it back in again. As it is open to atmosphere there will always be some evaporative losses.

Essex head gasket failed?

I've been losing small quantities of coolant on every journey for a few years now and replaced the entire cooling system one bit at a time, then had it tested (pressure/ gas emissions) for head gasket failure but the garage said all was fine. Yesterday I did a 120 mile round trip and at the end I o...
