TR6 Wheel nuts

That's odd Roger. My wheels are definitely TR6 steels, they fit and the nuts I linked are correct - I can't speak for alloys.

TR6 Wheel nuts

I have a set of TR6 wheels for my Sabre Six, as do one or two others. Studs are 1/2" UNF just like at least the Coupes and SE5s and as Jim says above, the TR6 wheels fit perfectly - mine are not designed for 7/16" studs. That's not to say there wasn't some variant for smaller studs, but I'm not awar...

Keep your head up Mikey! I'm pretty sure every one of us reading this thread can associate with what you're describing and the challenges of seeing a big job through to completion. It ain't easy - respect to you, seriously. I've no doubt there are many of us like me who lurk in the background a bit ...

Overdrive Selection advice

It's funny, I've been driving overdrive cars for two decades now (all J-type overdrives) and it's just second nature that I don't think about it. I happened to have taken the Sabre with me to work today, so on the drive home I concentrated on how I used the overdrive. As I thought, dropping it in wa...

Overdrive Selection advice

Interesting. I have a J-type overdrive and I've never used it in conjunction with the clutch - isn't that one of the joys of dropping the overdrive in and out especially when driving around town in 3rd gear? The clutchless, instant gear-change? I don't pop the overdrive in when under full foot-to-th...

Can't upload photos at present

Interesting. Shortly after the forum changes were made to allow photos to be uploaded & placed inline like this, I briefly experienced exactly this problem. Couldn't correlate it with anything obvious like file size, browser etc. Came back later (following day maybe?) and all was working correctly. ...

Oaksey's Straight Six

That all looks great Josh! Do you know if the Ford 2553cc S6 engines were originally blue btw? I painted the one from my Sabre green when I rebuilt it and it looks good, but I have a feeling now it left the factory in blue. Not that it matters - just wondered. When I converted the Sabre to negative ...

Sabres at Bledlow

More from the 2018 classic car show at Bledlow a YouTube video of some of the more interesting cars (thanks to Tony Heath for finding it). Have a look at below link the best bit at around 10 min 23 sec if you do not want to watch the whole thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CFoWOQ9jns John Les...

CH4: mission ignition

Really surprised to see hardly any use of protective gloves. And most competitors wearing rings too.

I never, ever wear my wedding ring when working on my cars - even if the battery is disconnected. Is it just me?

Wiper switches

After my wiper motor failed on the Devon Classic Rally in Sept 2017 I researched the DR3 twin-speed and park motor to try and understand how it worked. Luckily it turned out it was just my brushes which were completely worn down so I replaced these for £5 which saved my head from exploding. Looks li...

I presume the shelf is in your stationary cupboard?

fibreglass preparation

If you have the original floor, it will be plywood covered in a layer of fibreglass as all Sabre Sixes, Sabre fours just had plain plywood floors. Fixing with self tappers was the original way of fixing the tunnel to the floor. John Yep, it's how Reliant did it. Low tech and as Andy says above it's...

That's Steve Joyce's Coupe - sure he won't mind me identifying him. Lives in Bristol and navigated with me on a few HRCR Clubman rallies in 2017 in the Sabre Six. You can see the HRCR sticker on the back.
