Con-rods cvh

Great! Look forward to seeing it out. Phil A is your man for 1300bits I expect Worth noting the number on the Rods was different (can’t be seen in the picture) - but it looks like a casting number rather than a part number. I’d still try to double check gudgeon pin sizes if I were you - but I’m fair...

Con-rods cvh

I couldnt find a sensibly prices RS Turbo engine when I turbo'd mine, so I did a lot of research into this and ended up popping RST pistons and rods into my SS1s original engine. There is a lot of talk of RST's having 'special' conrods/cranks etc, but the more I dug into it I couldn't find any hard ...

Wakey wakey

Yup - mines for speed events so the silohouette is free below the wheel centres. Compatibility with other events / series was a factor in the decision to keep the original block and head. I can only think of 3 CNH noses in use, and 3 competition cars with a DET. It’s really interesting to look at th...

Swoakes SS1 DET Sprint car Service for new season

Standard bonnet = 28kg
Single skinned standard bonnet with no bracing = 17kg
One of Craig’s bonnets with some foam core = 12kg

The CNH one was less wobbly than the single skinned standard one due to having a load of foam core in it.

Swoakes SS1 DET Sprint car Service for new season

I keep meaning to put my ‘Hughes Developments’ bonnet on the scales - it’s a lot lighter than a single skinned standard bonnet. If I remember I’ll weigh it tommorow night.

Is yours on hinges? If it’s not on hinges i wouldn’t worry too much about it being a bit wibbly when off the car.

Compie Drivers Meeting redditch 27th January 2018

My apologies but I'm not going to be able to attend this year.

I don't have any points for discussion, except my thanks to Craig and Nick for all their hard work in organizing last season and securing the SSSCs future.

INFRARED THERMOMETER (LASER)

Yup - the cheapie ones are very very inaccurate and can only really be used for a temperature comparison (making sure the distance is the same for each measurement) to say ‘yes it’s hotter/colder’ and not it’s X degrees. Distance is key to repeatability - some of the better ones have two lasers, and...

Forced Induction by graham bell

Someone recommended me this one last year - maybe Craig?

I found It a good read - does lack detail in some areas but it covers the basics which was good for me coming at it with little prior knowledge.

I ran NGK BCPR6ES in my CVH. NGK BCR8ES in the CVH turbo.

Brake pads

I’ve got Mintex 1144 in the SS1 and S2000 and really rate them. Work really well on the S2000 - with good cold manners, and in the SS1 I’ve only managed to trouble them at goodwood on the 2 lap practice - which is asking a lot of the little brakes anyway. I know most moved away from green stuff - bu...

If I'm being honest mikey I'd either set it up as a sprint car with the relevant mods or build yourself a nice road cruiser that's got quiet exhausts, softer suspension and lots of sound deadening, also a overdriven top gear will cut a lot of noise down.
Agreed! Exactly what I was thinking.

Ben's SS1 - SSF novice sprint car

That’s my car in it’s very first incarnation, we welded the bar into the Reliant hoop at the same level as the braces onto the B post - which normally carries the top seatbelt mounting on a standard car. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a178/nickkeyser/DSC_1700.jpg I did check at the time and the c...
