Car Covers

I been into fibreglass kit cars for years and never seen blistering until meeting scimitars. very strange. I suppose these cars are older and have perhaps been more exposed to the elements though............

SE6 P.S Pulley adaptor

Sorry Roger it's just that King Herald's pics look a bit odd, plus Ive forgotten what the bits look like when separate. So I see you've used the smaller pulley. I was on that to start with but found the need-to-rev problem even worse so moved onto the larger one

SE6 P.S Pulley adaptor

Yep that's what ive got.
I'd still prefer not to do any revving at all. I suppose it depends on idle speed and perhaps my pump pulley could be different, maybe? Anyway that's why the electric pump seems a possibly good idea, but need info on hydruaulic unions - plus whether I can be bothered!

SE6 P.S Pulley adaptor

Shouldnt do but I do.- although when I say rev I only mean a little bit above idle. There appears to be no real PAS at idle speed. Could be the pulley ratio is wrong but I have no way of increasing it. BTW my pulley does not look like that. The secondary pulley fixes on the the basic engine one with...

SE6 P.S Pulley adaptor

I've also done the PAS conversion and got hold of a suiltable pulley but I'm not very happy with it as there is a chunk out of it for some reason (perhaps it was in an accident) and I worry about balance. So I'm also interested in a replacement. However I'm also interested in replacing the pump with...

Type 9 into a Gtc

Having done several Zetec to Type 9 conversions, I am aware of the commonality of bellhousing/Engine bolt pattern esp for the 4 cylinder engines between Pinto/CVH/Zetec and I think also Crossflow and others. However I am also aware that the for the v6 models the bolt pattern and input shaft length a...

rear seat belts?

I dont know about other models but on my 6a, as well as rear lap belt mountings there were also threaded upper belt mounting bosses behind the back seats welded onto a very large steel plate inside the rear bodysides. I used those and also figured a method of mounting inertia reels on another part o...

Essex Roller rockers

Thanks those are all worthwhile points. I suppose the one that had me a little hooked was the thought of increased ratio - valve lift - power but the clearance/tappety thing is also worthwhile - I spent ages with mine recently to solve that

Yes that's what I thought. It can't have moved by much though, just a 2 or 3 mm I think
When you say shimming in order to avoid taking apart, is that shimming between door and hinge or between hinge and body or something else? I suppose it will be necessary to detach the hinge anyway

Essex Roller rockers

What's the advantage o using these? Is there a change to ratio and therefore valve opening? If so what does that achieve power wise?

Spegru SE6a

A bit of a faux pas this weekend when the wind took the drivers door and swung it open hard. Since then the door edge catches the edge of the dorr opening as it opens, making a nasty creaking noise as one beit of fibreglass grates over another. I've had a good look around and cant see any visible da...

Tappet adjustment query

just by way of completeness, I thought I'd remeasure with a feeler guage while changing the cork gaskets. Perhaps oddly they all measured up fine albeit very tight on the guage. Just one seemed a bit too tight - seemed to be 0.2 vs 0.3mm (Inlet on No2) so I loosened that a bit. Hard to say whether t...

Essex head gasket failed?

I looked at those but was unsure whether it was a header tank or an expansion tank. In the end I bought another cheapo item 321417918816 which definitely has a pressure cap 2.5 Litres but no sight tube. Not fitted it yet though....
I'm just wondering whether it will help anything

Essex head gasket failed?

Regarding heater tanks & Expansion bottles, I have been wondering about repacing my plastic expansion bottle with an alloy Expansion tank plumbed into the the bottom heater hose. The objective being to reduce/ eliminate water loss with (effectively) a larger radiator top tank. After all this is how ...

Rear Wiper & Park Position?

I've just uploaded a couple of videos showing what happens to the rear wiper as it parks and the motor internals as they park. It seems that the motor actually changes direction via a reversal in polarity. A bit weird really. I wonder if any other cars have this system? https://www.youtube.com/watch...
