Engine bay paint 2017

Hmmm - what about powder coating? That’s thicker than a primer and paint and is regularly found on rocker covers? I’d always use a primer to ensure the paint sticks.

I think a decent primer and paint is fine - as you say, you’re not putting it on the really hot bits. The standard rocker covers get quite hot and I’ve used gloss black aerosols on them without a problem.

Will the axle fit......

Assuming no-one has changed it in the past - it may have a tag on one of the cover bolts with the ratio marked, or if you take the rear cover off, the ratio is etched onto the diff.

It depends which gearboxes the cars had.

Early autos and 4 speed will be 3.07, overdrives and later autos will be 3.31.

4 speed (type 5) was introduced in 1972 when Ford stopped making the earlier (2 rod) box, a new (3 rod) box was introduced in mid 73.

In Power terms there may be no advantage over a single carb but there are plenty of advantages in terms of reliability and driveability. In addition to the more accurate fuel/air ratio across the complete spectrum from an ECU, injection gives you high pressure fuel delivery, which reduces the chance...

Cologne engine 'running on'

Another possibility is carbon deposits in the combustion chamber (particularly if its running rich).

Edit - beaten to it :D

Type 3 are flat faced without the protruding door pull so you would need to glass in a new “handle”

I’ll happily swap a set of type 2 for your type 3?
