Wanted GTC, late Sabre ... or Sabre Six (the grail)

Another couple of cars perhaps worth considering. Sabra GT for sale in Belgium - www.octane.be/stock/sabra-gt/. The seller has indicated a price of €40,000. There was a nice Sabre Six for sale in New Zealand. The asking price was the equivalent of about £15,000. This sounds very reasonable, but you ...

Wanted GTC, late Sabre ... or Sabre Six (the grail)

Your choice of a Sabre Six is an excellent one. But being the owner of two such cars plus the Sabra/Sabre Prototype, perhaps we are biased. Barry Job’s Sabre Six has just been sold after a few years on the market, but we are not aware of any other good roadworthy Sabre Sixes for sale at the moment. ...

What cars did you see today? (Non-Scimitar)

A bit of a rarity spotted at Brooklands yesterday. Apparently it's a Brazilian made VW Karmann Ghia TC.

Brookland New Year's Day 2019

I forgot one. So there were ten Scimitars/Sabres present. I think the backdrop to this photo is quite impressive.

Here are the rubber mounting bushes for the radiator and the stepped fixings bolts that can be tightened fully without crushing the rubber.

660XYB Engine fix

I fitted a Mk2 Escort aluminium radiator from Radtec in our Sabre Six convertible. IMG_5697.JPG I had to make up some mounting brackets and reduce the width of the fixing flanges a bit, but otherwise it was a good fit and performed well. Unfortunately it sprang leak after two or three years and I th...

Funny peculiar brake issue

It could be brake pad knockback. Does it happen after reversing round a bend? Flex in the stub axle or play in the bearings can cause movement of the disk which pushes the pads away a little. At the next application the pad travel is extra long causing the symptom you describe. We had this with a Co...

I've just removed the engine from our Sabre Six GT. As Chris says, not too difficult. For me a couple of day's work. Note home made engine crane!

For interest here are engine mounts for Zodiac and TR6 for comparison. The level difference Chris reported is clear.

Hi Philip I was interested to hear that you have recently obtained an MoT for your 50+ year old car. Another Sabre Six owner has told us that his MoT garage refused to carry out an MoT on his car. Instead he carried out an equivalent technical inspection and issued a written statement that it met Mo...

MY l0VER on an Evoque in Bromley. Amusingly it had a parking ticket on the windscreen. They were obviously too busy to notice.
