Fibre timing gear

Hello everyone, I'm trying to figure out from pile of receipts whether my car has had its fibre timing gear replaced. There is a receipt for 'fibre gear £87.50' from 1993. Were people already upgrading them to steel back then or is it possible that the origin was replaced with another fibre timing g...

se5a for sale on car and classic

I thought I'd bring this to everyone's attention in case it hasn't come up in the forum already.

Oh that's great. Thank you. No I just wanted to browse through the files and try to absorb as much information as I can in case something should need fixing in the future.

Hi everyone,

I am very pleased to have just received my RSSOC membership number and have updated my profile but cannot access the Wiki pages. Does anyone know what I have done wrong/haven't done?

Thanks,

Alex

Ebay SE5a

Ok thank you. Do you know anything about the car? The registration is not visible in the photos so I can't check its MOT history. Looks nice, but pictures can hide a lot.

Real MPG figures

I was considering doing a conversion on my Mercedes but a w123 specialist told me it would eventually kill the engine, AND, in Germany LPG is about to lose its subsidy and will become more expensive to run a car on than petrol. So perhaps the days of LPG are soon to be over. .. Cheap to run would be...

How frustrating! I'll be away then but would definitely have joined. When is the next event? I'm in London but happy to travel (always looking for an excuse to leave! And drive  ).

Thanks!

Thank you all. That's very interesting and encouraging. I think the GTE is a beautiful car, and having been in one I found it comfortable. If it's also affordable to run in terms of petrol then I think it's the car for me, IF I can find one (I'm hoping for se5a manual OD without a sunroof)...

Thanks for that. Is that in an SE5a or is the fuel consumption roughly the same for all models? Definitely better than my Mercedes!

Real MPG figures

Hi everyone, I'm thinking of getting rid of my beloved but rather thirsty w123 coupe and buying a Scimitar SE5a. Could any of you give me an idea of what sort of mileage you get, for GTE models in general. I've seen from the low teens to high 30s on various websites and am naturally none the wiser! ...
