3rd gear position back of rod catching side of underbody

Outcome Car now all back together again and O/D now perfect. The rearmost of the three bolts holding the gearchange assembly to the tunnel was loose. I'm certain over time the rod for left / right movement of the gearlever was progressively pushing the switch away leaving it de-activated. My thanks ...

Glove Box Lock

Result
I had one kind offer via PM from Richard Pelluet ( we exchanged PMs ). My thanks to him for the offer and info. The problem now solved as I've found a spare key in the usual cardboard box of mysterious unidentifiable bits that came with the car.

Glove Box Lock

My GTC needs another glove box lock (and key ). The boot and the glove box are the only secure places on a convertable car.
Anything that will fit considered. PM or E-Mail giddo45@btinternet.com

Warning! 25A switch won't handle 18A for long.

A couple of points occure to me on reading the above 1) was the 25A rating on the switch AC or DC ? AC current is much easier to switch as it will fall to zero (usually) 100 times a second limiting the arcing time. Arcing causes burning of the contact faces which results in higher contact resistance...

GTC Steering Lock

Today the ignition key broke leaving half in the lock. So far I've removed the wheel, multi-switch and instrument panel, I've unplugged all the cable bunches and undone the top clamp holding the column to the cross-tube so its dropped down a bit. Can anyone advise on how to remove the lock / switch ...

3rd gear position back of rod catching side of underbody

Sorry chaps, my mistake. Exploded diagram of gear-change found in section G transmission - why did I not look that far down  I was out in the car this evening, about 30% of the time O/D fails to engage, hitting the gear-lever towards my left knee usually brings it IN. Otherwise change to neutr...

3rd gear position back of rod catching side of underbody

Thanks a lot Phil, My electronic copy of the 6a manual does not include that drawing and searching on this forum did not turn up any helpful info.
Am I right in thinking there is not a Manual for 6b / se8 ?

3rd gear position back of rod catching side of underbody

Apologies if I'm too far off topic here but can someone tell me where the overdrive inhibit switch ( sensing 3rd/4th) is on an 84 GTC ?

SE6a Not Starting Only Turning Over

Totally right Jim, glad you spotted my deliberate mistake
I'll read the manuals I have and check the floats. I'm a trifle in awe of taking apart such a complex instrument as a Weber

SE6a Not Starting Only Turning Over

congrats to JC29CDO. Noticing that this thread is entitled 'not starting only turning over' may I keep to the symptom but change the target. My GTC ( Cologne with 38DCOH and K&N filter and manual choke ) exhibits similar effects. After standing for a few days it will crank fo what seems an age but u...

GTC Tonneau cover

It has long been my wish to use my GTC with the hood down as much as possible. The aerodynamics are such that at all but the slowest speeds light / moderate rain will pass over the passengers. But what happens when you stop in the suremarket car park? An easy to erect cover is needed to protect the ...
