beige 'barn find' Scimitar in Luton

Just a little bit of a silly enquiry. (I still can't do clever stuff like links) : a 1976 se6a has just appeared on Ebay as a barn find without paperwork and no reserve. If I understand the brave new world we are about to enter in May... If I could manage to get a new logbook from DVLA, could I just...

Galvanised chassis? Wake-up call!

Yes, the zinc is meant to be sacrificed to the elements, but my understanding is that it is very difficult to overcoat with paint. I seem to remember reports of using an epoxy primer to prepare the zinc to receive paint, but how does it work with powder-coating? I guess the paint then becomes the fi...

newly listed on Ebay 6b in Italy

Hi, listed 2 hours ago, 1983 6b in perfect condition? 2 problems for me: it's not automatic and it's 800 miles away near Venice. Owner says it is good to drive home.

how lucky we are...

I feel I need to vent my feelings. I spend a lot of time on the interweb and I have to say that the 'scimitarweb' forum is (in my humble opinion) probably the best one around! Although we don't see much of eric and luke, I believe the other moderators do an absolutely fantastic job of keeping the fo...

Market values - 3 more data points

Good news for present owners, but not such good news for impoverished pensioners hoping to get back on board. The real benefit is that Reliant ownership gives a better return on savings than banks!

SE5a hiding in eBay collection

This chap is one of the forums' favourites. Last year he had 5 GTEs for sale, and anybody that tried to ask him a question got both barrels in reply. He did have one car which was advertised for many weeks after the others had been sold, which just disappeared. I, too, saw the Scimitar in the backgr...

London T-Charge

Hi Loxford, I am now concerned about ULEZ. Producing millions of new vehicles and encouraging their sales is massively energy and resource hungry. G It won't be too much of a problem for the Capital since (like all our waste) we will be exporting the pollution caused by producing all these new cars ...

local information/help needed

Thanks for that observation Darren. In the last 2 years, I have bought 3 classics (unseen) and in each case driven them home in excess of 100 miles without reservation but age is taking its' toll and I now find I can drive only short distances so the 350 mile drive home was out of the question. I am...
