wiper failure...

Suddenly the wipers have stopped (6b) . BUT....moving the switch produces a click from behind the centre console somewhere? Is that wherethe 'control unit' as it appears on the wiring diagram lives? If the control box, which I'm ASSUMING is some kind of solenoid is firing then the wiring from it to ...

Diff pinion oil seal

So how did you end up with both flanges?
I kinda get the feeling that both will.e available as seal for some other car for a tenner.

Diff pinion oil seal

So ..two different sizes of flange? Can either size be on any car? I'm getting qouted 30quid for a pinion seal for the 6b !!!! For something that I'm pretty sure is out there for under a tenner?

Shock absorbers

Sorry to drag this back to the start... But are 6b shocks different from 6a (rears) and will the spring from the standard shock fit a Spax?

Cooling Fan Upgrade

But will the universal ones not be 'pull' rather than 'push' which is what we need on a Scim?

Re: Stalling ...again!!

Well, I've realized I'm completely failing to deal with cold stalling issue. It runs fine once it's done half a mile.. But it still won't tick over from cold. SCIMJIM asked if dies after 5-7seconds and after putting g in gear. Answer yes, bit only if stone cold. I read somewhere else that someone fo...

Re: Stalling ...again!!

I'm always so scared on flooding an engine, I find it hard to even double pump it!! But, you're right, a Webber'd Cologne can't be much diffeent in the way the inlet side works and if as you say it's hard to flood!! I'll try it.

Re: Stalling ...again!!

Yes...two pumps of the the throttle before starting. The idle jets may reblock of course, but right now they clearly aren't. It's running a peach, as soon as it's got over it's intial start /stop and stall. It only needs to be coaxed through the first 90seconds or so then it's happy as a happy as a ...

Re: Stalling ...again!!

Oh..maybe it's Duraspark...I'll go check. Curiously it's now running well, and starts hot or cold...BUT...the first cold start of the day ALWAYS dies after about 5 seconds..second start doea the same...then it starts and ticks over ...The car runs OK at revs so I guess the pump's OK ...I think I'm s...

Re: Stalling ...again!!

Update....update... Well,i think during the mucking about I'd moved the choke stop, which didn't help in diagnoses thereafter...BUT...the biggest improvement came about because I remembered this... ...A mate reminded me of a method of clearing jets...get it warm by holding the throttle open, then re...

Re: Stalling ...again!!

That was always my first suspision, but as I say, spraying easy start round the base of the carb produces no significant increase in revs?

Re: Stalling ...again!!

OK...so no real evidence of an airleak. Engine start very easily from cold, then runs for a few seconds and dies....if I keep blipping the throttle to keep it running it'll warm up after about two minutes or so to a point where it'll JUST tick over, hunting badly, from 1000rpm ( as set on the idle s...
