Se5a Rolling rejuvenation project

I've postponed the decision to sell it for now. I've been focussing on other more important things... in-between finishing off some quick jobs I wanted to do to the car. It may well get sold, it depends on how my fortunes go over the next month and the rest of the year. Being honest though, I doubt ...

What happens to all the XXXX's ?

Tim, not to seem facetious in any way, have you tried shelf-filling at Tesco or working in a fast food place? Maggie's Millions... yeah, I remember those days. I have never been unemployed for a single week since leaving school in 1985. I've never signed on. I've never had anything off anyone that ...

What happens to all the XXXX's ?

A minimum number of posts before a For Sale post might work I agree with this. To be really honest I think a lot of the stuff on here ought to be concealed behind a pay-wall that defines what membership is. On many other car club forums I've been on, not being a member means you are really limited ...

What happens to all the XXXX's ?

FWIW Ronnie, I'm still here and my car is still here too. I understand the curiosity angle about this sort of thing though as I am always curious about it, especially with people who arrive in places like this, introduce themselves and seem incredibly enthusiastic, and then they just disappear as qu...

Se5a Rolling rejuvenation project

General maintenance note to self: New Flamethrower 2 coil and NGK plugs fitted. (please ignore these notes, they are purely here for an online record of progress. When I sell a car I always find it useful to refer to a thread such as this for evidence of the car's treatment and maintenance over the ...

a question about engine mount sizes.

Thank you everyone for your help today. I was in a rush to try and get it in at my friend's place so it was a bit of a time-sensitive question. I appreciate the responses.

poor running

Sounds like a vacuum problem from the brief description, though somebody will be along shortly to tell you otherwise with better experience than my own. Have you tested the vacuum advance tube/pipe? it might possibly be a bad vacuum advance. (I hate responding to these things because I'm usually wro...

shabby 73 Se5a for sale

Quick update...

I'm in the process of changing the engine mounts, so the car will be parked up until I get a weekend to do it.
At that point I will then post up some pics,a video of the car running, a longer description of what's for sale (good, bad and ugly), and a suggestion of price.

a question about engine mount sizes.

I have these in gtc , http://www.shop4autoparts.net/parts/Eng ... ne-gearbox Just looked at your link now I'm back home on my laptop. They look like a contender for sure. It depends on the stud diameter and thread I guess, but for that price it's worth getting some in to have a look. Just ordered. ...

At least when I sell this car on soon it will (hopefully) have new engine mounts as well... and it clearly needed them having pulled the worst looking one out.

There's also these from QuintonHazel... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-Engine-Mounting-x-4-for-FORD-CAPRI-3-0-V6-CONSUL-2-0-V4-Quinton-Hazell-/122198822342?hash=item1c739e0dc6:g:VrQAAOSwt5hYdOsQ Which are 35mm, as my used/crushed ones are. I don't understand why they are selling them in fours thoug...

a question about engine mount sizes.

Thanks man, that's really useful. It means that it ought to be possible to get these in, and if those don't even crush then it ought to be possible for the engine to be that amount higher up when sat on the bushes. My new bushes have studs that are two or three threads longer than the ones coming ou...

Yep, we tried that Oaksey. Had the metal bracket off and out. We couldn't get the combined bracket/bush back in though. I tried reassembling bush and bracket as loose items next to the block but still couldn't get it back in place. Tubular manifold doesn't help, but actually it's the gap between cha...

a question about engine mount sizes.

Cheers Oilrag. That's good to know but I'm guessing those are measurements taken off ones already in use and in position. What I'm hoping to find out is what a fresh, unused one would be before it's been used. I'm trying to determine if there is any crush once in use, so I really want to know, if po...
