LED headlights?

I have fitted these to the GTC. Fitted new bowls as well. I cut a hole in the back of each bowl so the air can circulate around the fan . I couldnt believe the difference they made. No more dingey yellow beams. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-LED-Headlight-Car-Conversion-Bulb-Beam-6000K-KIT-120W1 Your link...

LED headlights?

If anyone out there has experience of LED headlight bulbs fitted into standard Scimitar lamps I'd be grateful for comments. There seem to be several types of bulbs on offer:- 2 sided, 3 sided and 4 sided emitters. So, which if any, are best suited to our old fashioned reflectors? I'm not worried abo...

rocker cover gaskets

I used 'ThreeBond 1104Neo Plus' without gasket when I fitted alloy covers. So far so good!
What's to lose by trying?

Thanks Jim.
Photo's of the tank at your link seem to show rear facing mounting lug (broken?) to be in horizontal plane whereas mine, on the Middlebridge, is vertical.

Coolant expansion tank

Shall be grateful if someone will tell me from which car the Middlebridge coolant expansion tank was sourced. Also, is it used on any of the Reliant models?

bonnet cable

Buy one that's obviously too long then cut it down to suit? That's what I did for rear hatch internal release when the key lock failed.

Multi switch (Head/dip lights, indicator, horn)

An alternative is a late MGB switch (1977 on) if you cannot source the vaxuhall one. I know this because I have been experimenting! My original stalk is toast. The B one appears to be a good fit (has the correct collar to go on the steering column, has all the right features and will fit the metal ...

Replacement battery cost over £500.

Many thanks to all who responded and I'll certainly get in touch with the motor ombudsman (cheers 1969SE5). From just this limited correspondence it seems vehicle manufacturers generally have an issue with flat batteries causing expensive repairs elsewhere in the vehicle electrical systems. But sure...

Replacement battery cost over £500.

OK, this is perhaps not the proper forum but I need to get it off my chest. Vauxhall Meriva with less than 40K on the clock and battery fails. That’s fine, car is out of warranty so buy a new battery, fit it and off we go! No way! It appears flat battery on this car upsets ECU and god knows what els...

Column multi-switch, SE6?

As per Geraint's question, if it's a problem with a broken clamp (probably the most common problem) rather than an electrical problem, then they are quite easy to repair at very little cost (and the repair is probably stronger and more rigid than the original). See my project thread here for one ex...

GTC spoiler removal

I recently removed both heater blower units and had same difficulty with rusted nuts/bolts in that same area. Angle grinder with thin cutting disc did it for me (be careful though, it'll go through fibreglass like it's butter).

AVO rear shock fitting

I think you guys are missing the point (or is it me?). Weaver is enquiring about "offset" of the bottom eye is he not. His picture of the old shock (Spax) shows offset whereas the new shock (AVO) has no such offset. I suspect the Spax shocker with offset is not standard whereas the AVO is and, unles...

Windscreen Wipers not parking.

Windscreen wipers work fine other than in my ownership have never self parked (I have to correctly time switching off the wipers for them to park at bottom of the screen). Before I get out the bag of spanners to sort it can anyone suggest what the cause might be?

Multi switch (Head/dip lights, indicator, horn)

Can anyone say from which vehicle the SE6/ Middlebridge multi switch was sourced? If switch is no longer available then which is best alternative option for ease of wiring and fit? I've seen mention of Maestro/ Montego.
