Silverstone Classic 26-28 July 2019

Although at Silverstone with my Middlebridge, the display on the RSSOC stand was excellent with a good range of well turned out cars. Hopefully between the 2 stands we have managed to raise the profile and awareness of the Scimitar marque.

Middlebridge at Silverstone

20190726_142902.jpg Just wanted to say thanks to all those involved in the organisation of the 30th anniversary meet at the Silverstone Classic last weekend, especially Mick, Bruce, George, Will and Mark. To get just under a third of all the cars ever produced is quite an achievement 30 years on. I...

SE6a Burray Orkney

Whilst out today trying to get my Middlebridge ready for Silverstone at the end of the week, I was stopped by Ocean Terminal, Edinburgh with the bonnet up, when approached by a guy interested in the car. It turned out that he knew this Scimitar on Orkney as he lived there, and it has now been moved ...

G130 YCF my first sprint car

Good to see G130 YCF still being used. I owned it for some years before selling it to David in Hexham. Last I heard when I spoke to him some time ago,was that it was off the road due to turbo problems and so thought it may well have gone to the scrapyard in the sky. Good to see it coming to life aga...

Re: Scimitar report on old Top Gear episode

I don't know but Andy Faulkner might as he was the one who took the footage and I know he posts on here. It was his se6 that was used and where the interview with Tom Karen and Ray Wiggin took place at lunchtime.

Re: Scimitar report on old Top Gear episode

This was filmed on 24th October 2000 at Cannock Chase with members of the Scimitar Drivers Club. The mk 2 Sabre was my wifes and the gold coupe mine, which was being fettled in order to do LeJog in 2002.

Great day, with the BBC and Tiff Needell both brilliant.

Re: Scimitar prices on the increase

I think that if prices do continue to rise then we will see a different type of buyer and a different attitude. In the past I would like to think I have always put money into my Scimitars and when I come to sell them they are in better condition than when I bought them.......a trend I am continuing ...

Re: Don Pither

Don Pither passed away in 2002. Very well known within Scimitar circles running a spares service from his Gloucester farm ( seemed to be there every week to try and keep my Se5a running!) and working tirelessly to improve the image of the Reliant marque. Once a year he ran a "Sabre Day" at his farm ...

Re: MCC Exeter Trial sad news

Sad news indeed. Thoughts are with friends and family. I have marshalled on the Exeter Trial several times with the Crashbox Club over the years and as has been said it was one of the safest forms of motorsport. It can be a bit hairy for the motorbikes if they come off ( have had one or two trapped ...

Re: Geoff Cooper

Very sad news and thoughts are with close friends and family.

Geoff was one of the first members I met when joining the RSSOC in the 80's and followed his exploits with interest and was one of the inspirations for having a go at rallies and trials.....thank you Geoff RIP.

Re: Graham Walker Scimitars

Agreed CNHSS1.......the clubs over the years and especially the RSSOC have been "pushing the positive aspects " of the Reliant range........this does not always result in what we see with the Middlebridge Scimitar. It is not as simple as that Will. :P Perhaps they had removed the sword of damacles h...

Re: Graham Walker Scimitars

Turned into quite a lively debate and can see both sides of the argument between relianter and the rest! I think most on here agree that Scimitars are undervalued compared to the competition. They are an affordable classic but without that prospect of making money / getting your money back many exam...

Re: Graham Walker Scimitars

Good to see prices up where they should be. For too long we have got used to and expected the low prices even for a half decent car. Hence the reason we are now seeing many "barn finds" on ebay et al where a buyer has realised he is not going to turn around a car for a profit so has just let it rot ...
