After a long time doing everything to combat fuel vapourisation including wrapping manifolds, changing the fan, changing the thermostat, replumbing, fitting a fuel return, relocating the pressure regulator and coil, and some stuff I cant even remember now, it was... .... Failed ignition module. Its ...

Overdrive isolator switch

Having looked into fettling (bodging) something up with an RS Components switch, does anyone have a proper overdrive inhibitor switch knocking about? - as project ‘fit overdrive’ is currently stalled with two donor gearboxes neither of which have the original switch present! This is it, mounts on to...

Right I now have it running. Or did on Monday so goodness know whether it will in future as I dont know what I did. I earthed the dizzy backplate, replaced cap (again) and managed to get it idling. I’ve ordered a 1/8 female to 3/8 male NPT adaptor and then found a potential correct 3/8 sender. So I’ll have a try with both solutions and see where I get to.

Does the cologne distributor fit the Essex? Not really on topic but relevant to the ‘dizzy’ direction I’m going with it.

You had me thinking. The car is the larger 3/8 NPT (I think) but the spare engine and two spare manifolds are indeed the smaller 1/8 NPT.
Just had to be that way round didn’t it !

That’s the small one Jim, theres a larger version and typically the only way I can make a sender work looks like changing the manifold.
