Service for my new 5a

Burton Power have alloy ones listed, I have a steel one which doesn't clatter it just whines a bit, as if was something more exotic than just an old Essex.

Very well done Roger, your images are stunning.
The Bristol single seater in your 'Art of Motion' entry looks as if its running a little bit hot!

Being driven mad

If your car still has the standard fit 38DGAS Weber carb you cannot do much to it, settings wise, that will prevent the engine running, the two adjustment screws only alter the idle mixture which only leaves the throttle stop screw, all the running settings are none adjustable fixed jets inside the ...

Greenham Common meetings

That sounds interesting might go to the next one. A Facebook page https://en-gb.facebook.com/events/2011915598857577/ shows it was held yesterday 9th of Feb so on the basis that its held second Saturday of the month takes us to the 9th of March. When I was a lad I lived close to Greenham, it was a f...

March 2019 issue of Classic & Sports Car magazine, Scimitar content

The March 2019 issue of Classic & Sports Car magazine landed on my mat this morning and on page 20, illustrating a report on the New Year's Day gathering at Brookland's, is a picture showing Rogers lovely yellow 6a, although not mentioning it in the caption. Then on page 55 another picture, this tim...

Alternative Coupé register ;-)

I had the same thought Phil, the relatively low original build figure for Coupes of just over 1000 and the longevity of a composite body shell must help. Just out of interest I blundered onto a Capri mk1 forum and on there was this ---------'Despite more than a million Mk1s being produced and sold w...

Joe's 1972 GTE - MOT'd

I have not suffered any valve seat recession on my 5a in the nearly 15 years it has been back on the road, although like Ben my annual mileage is low and I too use an additive. Does fitting seats into a cast iron head need more care than into a Aluminium one, the Coefficient of Expansion of cast iro...

Windscreen storage - horizontal OK?

I had a perfect SE5a Sundym screen carefully stored vertically during the rebuild of my car, came the day to refit it and it was cracked down the middle, the edge must have been standing on something like a small stone perhaps, had to fit my less good delaminated other spare. I now have another real...

If your using a lifting hoist, the type on wheels, you need to make sure the reach is sufficient, the engine is a long way back.

1600 cvh

In tha garage somewhere is a 4-2-1 from a transverse CVH installation that I thought could be cut and shut to make it fit a SS1, but after I cut it up I realised that none of it was of any use.
