I remember reading the test report in Hot Car in period. At that time I thought it looked wonderful, not so sure now. The carbs are a misprint I think and should be IDFs.

Stuttering / Cutting out, haven't a clue

I had a sytec pressure valve fitted to my 5a for a while because I had an electric primer pump fitted, it seemed to randomly 'lock up' and cut off the fuel supply. I removed it (and the electric pump at the moment) and went back to the system as fitted by Reliant and the problem went away.
