SS1 ruined

I wouldn't say it was ruined, what's been done to it is easily reversible, if that's the way the next owner wants to go.
Had it been re-sprayed, as the seller indicates, it would have been a nice looking intriguing car, as I suspect the intention was for it to be de-badged.

Re: Galvanising chassis

There is an alternative to galvanising. You could paint the chassis with "Zinga" which is a galvanising paint. It is reputed to outlast conventional hot dip galvanising, and it is suited to overpainting with chassis paint. You can purchase it from Frosts, the Classic Car equipment specialists. ( fro...

Re: What cars did you see today? (Non-Scimitar)

Too many to mention individually, today was The Vectis Historic Vehicle Club's annual show, 250 plaques were made and we should have made more as there were 265 cars in all from both the Island and visitors from the Mainland. The cars ranged from a 1929 Austin Six, to a 2000 Aston Martin, with the o...

WANTED: Driver's Seat in Black for 1972 SE5a

Has anyone a spare Driver's seat in Black Vinyl for a 1972 SE5a, which they would be willing to sell? I live on the Isle of Wight, where we have the Vectis Historic Vehicle Club. One of the members, who is not at all internet savvy, has a rather nice SE5a. But, while on a tour of Ireland sometime ag...

Re: Bad design !

In a properly designed engine: are there any? The camshaft would be shaft driven from the crankshaft. How about this for an idea. Horizontally opposed, six cylinder 2.5Ltr, air cooled. Twin contra rotating crankshafts, two con-rods per piston, shaft driven single overhead camshafts. Would cost a min...

Re: SS1 No.1 - Back to life

What surprised me from the article in C&SC was the value they attributed to the SS1 - £2000 - £4000, it appears that Scims are beginning to edge out of the valuation doldrums. Hopefully.

Re: Geoff Cooper - Funeral Arrangements

I was never fortunate enough to meet Geoff and, having read this thread, I'm sorry I didn't. But I am very familiar with his contributions to the Forum. I'm too far away to have attended today, but my thoughts were with Geoff's family and all of those who were there. I've made a small donation in Ge...

Re: smart charger at Lidl

I have one of these, which I bought a couple of years ago, I think it was £11.99 then. I recently used it to charge a battery which ha been allowed to rundown quite a bit, when I connected it the charger showed 7.5v, and the battery type indicator wouldn't function. I left it connected for two days ...

Re: ANG - A long-term Project

I recently had a chat with the chap who runs our local garage workshop. He's going to give me a hand to fix the starting problem and, as he's MOT qualified, he'll give the car a once over to see if there's any chance of passing the test. I'll keep you posted with any progress.

Another scroll down to the red MGTF, which seems to be fitted with Peugeot badges, at least on the Boot Lid and Wheels.

Re: Xmas Scimitar good news story...

Hitting a parked car and leaving your details can have unseen repercussions too. In 1965 I had parked my then car, - a 1938 Jowett 8, KHX 308 [which is still on the road], in a car park in Dartford. This was a bit of a mess as it had a very rough heavy gravel surface. As I backed out of the parking ...

Re: ANG - A long-term Project

It seems ages since I last posted. ANG didn't get fettled to do the wedding, a relative of my now daughter-in-law offered his Bentley Continental, no contest really. So ANG continued to sit on the drive looking rather neglected. I've decided to bite the bullet, at last, and offer the car for sale. T...
