Well had another look at it today and before I drilll out he lock any other thoughts on it . 1/ The button pushes in but the boot remains shut. 2/ I cannot turn the key in the barrel so if it is locked I can not unlock it , but the button pushes in so is it locked or unlocked? 3/ is it possible the...

Judging by the mods carried out you can measure the mounting points of the damper in it's ride height condition as shown in your picture. I should think that the damper manufacturer should then be able to advise on damper lengths and spring lengths What spring rates you use is another question entir...

Again from memory
When it's locked the button does not push in
The lock is pretty well protected by a plate so parts movement should not be an issue
However the button plunger no longer actiing on the catch is the likely problem
There was a discussion about this very recently

Still sounds like the valve on the servo to me

Or the orientation of the servo

There must be free play in the pedal via the actuating rod otherwise the heat transfer from the engine bay will take away any slack if any
