Having a clear out and found a Smiths dash time clock I have connected it to a battery and pulled the silver plunger out and the clock works and keeps time Suitable for a Coupe or SE5 Condition- above average with no corrosion. Last SE5a bumper I fitted a coupe was not only too wide but none of the main holes lined up .
Maybe the SE5 and SE5a bumpers are different?

have you checked the location holes between the bumper irons and the bumper ?
The Coupe also has in some cases a centre hole too on the underside - poss to do with the number plate lamp ?
