There was from the factory a filter in the tank outlet.
I used to have terrible running problems on triple carbs .
I disconnected and removed the outlet and it was full of debris

It's not "essential " to convert to unleaded inserts . Even race engines dont suffer from valve seat recession.

The post was referring to a 72 model which likely had the lamp without the reverse light incorporated.
Therefore there are 2 screws that hold the lens on so you could change the bulbs from the outside I should think

Why not use a filter from an EFI setup .
They filter out much smaller particles
