Supposed to be better than head bolts as they provide better clamping forces
Had them on my V6 made by ARP if I recall correctly

I did that some years ago but was concerned that the paddock didn’t seem secure and anyone could get in at any time

I would alway put a grease on the O ring
Make sure it is a grease that’s not going to affect the rubber
Red rubber grease will be ok
