The SS trims slide out to the rear - all you have to do is straighten out the front (folded ) edge - A touch of silicone spray helps getting out and even better makes sliding back in easier.
Suns still out here in Cramlington - did our normal walk down the coast this morning. Sorry to say the storm last week has taken a lot of the sand off the beach - looks almost like Brighton at the moment.

Mine have always just been screwed on ( self tappers ) - two at the top corners and one in the centre bottom.
I would also leave it as I have never had a quiet axle - they make a noise accelerating or decelerating or all the time. Rumour has it that the axles rejected by Aston were delivered to Reliant - worth checking the end float though.
