I find it better without self cancelling as once you have started round a bend if you need to indicate half way around the cancelling ring stops you doing it - we have four cars and only one with self cancelling left on - you soon get into the habit of switching the indicators off.
I fitted the original column ignition and indicators as the top the MGF one is just about the same diameter. Looks like you have most of the cable apart from the power ones but there is enough length left on the plug for you to just extend them. This is what I was left with after I had cut the bits off the column which were of no use.

Its quite mazing how many bits come up on ebay and such like when you can buy them ( new ) cheaper from the club - prime examples are the buyers guide and the alternate parts guide.
It could also be the drain on the side window - take the side window out and you can see the drain which is more or less the same as the back hatch drain - had that problem myself last winter.

I've got Khumo's on our 7" wolfs as there is nothing much else out there available - never had any problems with them - on the second set now - not your size of course
