To pinstripe or not to pinstripe

I would leave it plain, without the pinstripe. It's a striking looking car which doesn't need any adornments. Not that I'm opinionated, mind!

Emissions test and catalytic converter

Jim, that's an interesting anomoly. No SS1 came from the factory with a cat, so technically Megan shouldn't require one! Unless the MOT tester knows differently!

Emissions test and catalytic converter

Mike, that's great news. My understanding is that, 1800Ti powered cars were never fitted with a cat. When European regulations tightened up on exhaust emissions, the CA18ET motor was replaced by the Rover 'K' series motor. These were all fitted with catylitic converters. If one is factory fitted, th...

Emissions test and catalytic converter

Mike, I believe the Sabre 2 fitted with the Rover K series engine did have a cat fitted. I do know Reliant Parts World have them in stock. It is possible QRG do too. Let us know how you get on. Cheers, Mike

Sabre 1800ti For Sale

Hi Chasmac Thank you so much for sharing the interesting history of your special motor car. Your explanation goes a long way to explaining some of the anomalies that exist between the marks of later Small Sports Cars. Although your car has already been registered, may I have your permission record t...

I saw a Scimitar and fell in love!

Welcome, what great taste you have. The Scimitar is a great car, practical too, a high speed hold all! I saw that one at Brooklands too, a few weeks ago.

Silicone hoses for 1800Ti

OK Jim, good point, I'll ask. It's possible prices may decrease as orders increase but, I'll ask the question.

Silicone hoses for 1800Ti

My car is due a coolant change and I thought that whilst it was drained, it would be a splendid opportunity to change the cooling hoses. Opinion seems to vary on the quality of what is available and the majority seemed to favour the silicone route. Classic Silicone Hoses were recommended and althoug...

SS1 1.8Ti engine wiring loom

Hi Mike. Welcome and thank you for telling us about your car. It looks very good. Thanks also for including the VIN. Your car hasn't been registered before, may I include it in our Small Sports Register please along with the image? It would also be useful to have it's first date of registration, and...

Ss1/sabre cross breed on Copart

Not previously registered but there was a very clear image of the VIN! No under bonnet battery tray either. Very interesting, definately a bit of a mongrel!

Shock absorbers for SS1

You won't appreciate how poor your 30 year old shock absorbers are until you replace them with somethin decent. I tried pushing and pulling the originals on my Sabre about 2 years ago and there was very little resistance. I replaced them with Spax adjustables all round and the difference is amazing....
