Re: Spongeh's SS1 1800Ti recommissioning

6 months to the day since I started stripping it down, after much swearing and many sleepless nights, it's finally running again, but it’s not been an easy ride :D I must say at the start my time has been in rather short supply as I’ve been on holiday, had to help rebuild my sons scooter a couple of...

Re: Spongeh's SS1 1800Ti recommissioning

Well I'm having lots of 'fun' and everything is off and stripped down now. Water pipes have been removed and sent to Pirtek to get remade as braided hoses, so I can't start putting it all back together untill these are returned to me. New gastkets, studs & nuts all ordered. I seem to have a Turbo Te...

Re: Spongeh's SS1 1800Ti recommissioning

Well I enjoyed it and I might have enjoyed it slightly too much... Turbo started smoking the other week and I'm now in the process of stripping it down. After much swearing, bad weather and waiting a week for an online supplier to supply an 11mm flare nut spanner I finally have the turbo off. http:/...

Re: Experiment - video

Lovely run round the gyratory and down Kirkstall road there :D

I had a similar knock when using my SS1 it was the hardtop, even when fully bolted up with all the mounting points it would make the same noise.

Re: Remember, Be careful folks...

Very Sad, but having seen cars fall off the jack or the jack collapse I'm hyper paranoid about working on the car without it being on stands.

Re: Spongeh's SS1 1800Ti now with MOT & Tax

So in preparation for the retest today I only had one little job to do, adjust the headlight aim. Easier said than done, with every adjuster seized :( lots of swearing and I ended up here this morning: http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii66/spongeh_uk/Scimitar/F02637AC-FE2E-4E9C-A238-67F657F7B624_z...

Re: Spongeh's SS1 1800Ti recommissioning

Nice work; sounds like you need to enter the clubs Speed Championship to feed your addiction and save your licence  I may consider it at a later date, but at the moment I just need it legal by the middle of January. I'll be trying to use at as a daily driver for a few months as we're changing...

Re: Spongeh's SS1 1800Ti recommissioning

Lighting I started November with no side lights (O/S or N/S), number plate lights or dash lights. I’m lead to believe that these are all linked in some way within the mess of wiring that I have. I’ve put the multi meter across the A5 & A6 fuses and when I turn the lights on I get 12v across the con...

October part 2 - Brakes & stuff

Today I was bored of tracing electrical problems so I decided to tackle some of the more fun work on the front of the car. It looked like this when I started. The boot on the track rod end is split and the rubbers in the anti roll bar drop link are starting to split. The brakes are sticking and not ...

Re: Spongeh's SS1 1800Ti recommissioning

They are the seats out of Josh's Ti; sold on Ebay by the new owner. Yup had a good chat to him, his dad bought the car and we both were bidding on the seats from the blue car that was being broken by Ribble kit cars in Leyland. I actually bid exactly the same as his dad for the leyland seats, but h...

Re: Spongeh's SS1 1800Ti recommissioning

1 year anniversary I know it's a month late, but I've had the car over a year now. Still love working on it and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel with regards to getting the car MOT'd and back in use. Some of the work hasn't been required to get the car an MOT, but I've wanted to...

Re: Spongeh's SS1 1800Ti recommissioning

but as ever there is one minor issue… the aerial has a magnetic mount and unfortunately with these plastic cars there’s nowhere to blinking stick it. Mount the aerial diagonally from rear chassis frame forwards and upwards above the wheel arch. Works perfectly and is invisible. ooo now thats a plan...

Re: Spongeh's SS1 1800Ti recommissioning

re aux lights - they should only work when you're (a) on main beam (with the aux light switch in) or (b) lights down and pull the stalk to flash (aux light switch in either position). Thats what I thought and I found a mangled wire in the loom that previous owner had bodged, when attached to the mu...
