Replacement front seats

I fitted MGB GT seats to Barbaras SS1by modifying the seat frames to fit the existing seat runners. That way it means the original seats can go back without any problems.Oh yes the dimensions of the MG seats are the same as my seats in the GTC.

GTC door tongue

The tongue you refer to is to help door alignment .Dont think it matters where it lines up,but the rattle you can hear may be due to the sprung loaded reciever on the B pillar not having any fresh grease in it and what in there has dried out. Had the same problem. Check it is not stuck. I removed mi...

Ians GTC rebuild. Now she runs, and stops.

After a break for getting Barbaras SS1 ready for Silverstone the 'C' kinda took a back seat. Further examination revealed a couple of potential causes. The power valve diaphram looked a bit iffy and when I put the carb on the surface table it revealed a bow of .3mm in the base. No way the gaskets wo...

Rich running

Ive just used the airline to ensure the passages are clear. No sign of any blockages. Emulsion tubes look clear.Ive just placed the carb body on the surface table and I have a .3mm bow in the base. I am presuming that if air is getting in there ( gasket not adequate to seal this size of gap) and I a...

Rich running

Having spoken to Fast Road Cars, the problem for the rich running is partly due to the fast road cam Ive fitted and the carb being fitted with an anti stall diaphram. He informs me that I have to blank of the anti stall and pipe going into the carb base. Has anyone on here had the same problem? All ...

plastic float 34/44, brass float 41/51 IIRC.
Thanks Jim. That fits in with 10mm travel of the float required

Is it rich both banks?
Yes its rich on both banks. No idea about the CO. The carb was working fine before the rebuild started.Mpg was good. Ive not re-jetted it as the carb was brand new when I bought it. But I will check the float level

Ians GTC rebuild. Now she runs, and stops.

Having sorted the brakes out and with thoughts of an MOT test getting closer, problems arose setting up the carb along with a badly fitting rotor arm. Its running very rich but I cannot cure the fault. Also I can get the car to tick over, and when I put it in gear it stalls (its an auto box). I incre...

Replacement carpets

my Coverdale ones were shocking, some additional bits that I still have no idea where they go, and most needed a lot of trimming, pretty dissapointing, its not the cost of the carpet, its the time and the effort in trying to get them in, then to stand back and think, well its OK but not perfect.......

Am I inhibited ?

Check the condition of the wiring from the inhibitor to the starter relay then to the starter motor. Just renewed mine as the wires had gone crispy under the insulation. The plug onto the inhibitor is unavailable but you can get the wiring loom from here; https://www.autosparks.co.uk/finder. Fitted ...
