What cars did you see today? (Non-Scimitar)

That's okay, Jim - I was out in the Peak District with a friend of mine, anyhow - she was driving a little silver Mazda MX3 which I sold cheap to her......it's not the V6 (which must be the smallest production V6 ever...) but it's a brilliant little car for 21yrs. of age - & very rare! Nicely styled...

Benson and Hedges, but yes - it’s that one. I knew it was something to do with smoking I remember reading about that car in Thoroughbred & Classic Car in the late seventies or eighties (I think it was featured on the cover!). owned by a Roger Rowley Esq. I believe. He restored & then subsequently r...

1971 Scimitar SE5A for sale, manual transmission, excellent example

What a lovely, original looking example........Good luck with the sale. I'm sure that it won't be hanging around for long.

SE5 and SE5a for sale

Given the comparative rarity of the SE5 over the 5a it would be lovely to see both taken on & restored.....

MOT fail....

You could make a ,new disc out of an old copper coin. Old pennies should be nearly the right diameter. Find one slightly too big and file it to fit. Get everything clean and seal it with solder. :) Thanks for the reply......but wouldn't that necessitate removal of the trunnion - or can it be done '...

MOT fail....

Well, thought I would try the old dodge I read about on here of jacking a piece of wood into the bottom of the trunnion - it didn't work! I guess that it could have been due to the front of the car being jacked centrally at the front on a trolley jack with hardwood to spread the load. I could ...

Fitting an Italvolanti steering wheel to a Reliant

I remember seeing a Middlebridge wheel fitted to a recent for sale GTC on this forum - now sold. The chap was from Leek in Staffordshire- a mere 11 miles from me. I’m hoping someone on here may remember or know him so that I can make contact. I’ve a feeling Phil Howard knows him? Regards Ron Alas n...

Relative Sizes - Scimitar vs Modern

I was in the SE5, ages ago, behind a BMW Mini 'Countryman', sitting in a traffic light queue - I was looking up at the top of the thing (& I sit quite high in a Scimitar...) This thing looked like a van to me; I have no idea how they have the temerity to call 'em 'Minis'...

Thanks David - I read on the forum about the dodge of jacking a piece of wood under a recalcitrant trunnion. I'll try it & see if the grease then oozes through the upper 'swivel' area which it seems to be doing on the other side...I presume that would then mean (particularly if it is greased on full...
