He, along with the late great Patrick Macnee, was one of the great male style-icons........both incredibly 'cool' characters in their very different ways. It says a lot for the variety of the period, in music, film, TV & fashion that you could have two such diverse heroes! Everything seems very blan...

Just been to the dentist......

In the sixties my late father travelled probably upwards of 50,000miles a year as a sales engineer - he was using the usual repmobiles of the day....& I never remember him not being able to get home because of a breakdown. Given a certain degree of maintenance they can be just as reliable, if not mo...

Anytime I've ever had tyres put on......whether new or 2nd hand, the inner beading rims have always been cleaned up by their circular, revolving thingy....

Former ripe for a rather British re-make of 'Back to the Future' whereas the latter could star in a rather British re-make of 'Mad Max'....

Given that the original options were black and tan - you could always consider tan.....not as oppressive as black!.. :w

Battered Green SE5a

What a shame. I wonder what the terminal speed of the impact was - whatever it was it shows the inherent strength of the GTE.

You'll just have to put 'white-bands' on the back to even things up, Tim - I like them & think that your car would look fantastic with 4 on.... :w

Brake caliper/disc upgrade options

The '3-pot' Girlings were used on the Aston DB5 & other high performance cars of the era, I believe......My 5 has the original set-up with Goodridge hoses & the feel is brilliant. I'd save the energy & expense for other areas of renovation/improvement/upgrade etc.

How much?

It does look a lovely car in the pictures - with the most lavish interior........& looks to have been retrimmed in green leather which will have cost a pretty penny. I take the point about the rather sparse description - but succinct & to the point; probably on the basis that the vendor justifiably ...

Tristan and Isolda recording from Bayreuth 1966 with Nillson and Windgassen is on loop in my car at the moment. Anyone else know this recording? Not this one but I have a very early 45pm EP inherited from my late Mother with Arturo Toscanini conducting his N.B.C. Symphony Orchestra (recorded somewh...

A Scimitar specialist who is no longer around was quoted as saying, years ago, 'you've got to break a good car to make money'.... I don't personally like to see Scimitars broken up these days as, for the most part, there seems to be quite a lot of parts in circulation as there is.. :w Despite a bit ...

SE5a Radiator

I've got one in almost perfect condition, but must have been from an early SE5 with only a manual crank driven fan as there's no provision for the Otter switch (maybe a blessing in disguise!) so would need either a Kenlowe-style bulb, or an M22 sender soldering in. Hi Phil......My radiator is not o...
