Sabre (1400cvh) Getting warm.

If the fan is coming on and going off, and it isn't boiling over then it isn't too hot. Either you have the wrong gauge sender, gauge or the stabiliser is at fault (and I'm not just copying homework here). If your fuel gauge overreads by 25% would you be able to tell? Quick test as long as you have...

3mm drill size!

Reverse polarity on the fan to reverse flow.

A resistor reduces the Voltage appearing at the gauge, so that it "calibrates" one to the other.
I tried 3mm it started to crack the plastic!

Sabre (1400cvh) Getting warm.

I have not changed the temp sender, only the otter switch on the stat housing and stat, everything else has been left alone. To be honest I seem to remember it 'appear' to be running hot before I changed the otter switch and thermostat. My memory is not the best though. I have been doing some furthe...

Sabre (1400cvh) Getting warm.

Thanks for the speedy replies. Oh yes, that blockage is a common issue. After that, it may require a radiator recore. So what you're saying is if the car has been run for a while with the blockage, it ruins the radiator? The fan operation (switched from a different supply to the gauge) suggests that...

Sabre (1400cvh) Getting warm.

Hello everyone, For a while now my 1993 Sabre (1400cvh), when left running at a standstill, shows 3/4 on the temperature gauge and ever so slightly goes into red and the overheating light starts flashing. The fan kicks in and lowers it back down to 3/4 and the process is repeated once the fan goes o...

Re: FUEL HOSES

It's the same kind of joint. Have you removed the plate underneath the gearbox (8 (IIRC) small bolts into captive nuts in the chassis)? it makes it a lot easier to see and get access. I replaced the nylon pipe with a much longer run, up into the engine bay, so removing the problem for the future. H...

Re: FUEL HOSES

You have to do it by feel.. That sounds fun! How are they secured at the gearbox end? At the fuel tank end of my Sabre they are connected with fuel hose clips https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/14079655_10153811809255737_2232854463347312588_n.jpg?oh=1ad3f20b7b7a5f760028cd528444148a&oe=58...

Re: FUEL HOSES

I'm changing mine very soon. I've jacked the car up in the air and tried to see where the rubber fuel hose joins the rigid above the gearbox but cant see a thing, do I need to remove anything?

Re: Oaksey's Rebel

" One thing led to another & the engine came out" While the engine is out its a good time to take the drain plug out of the block & using some stiff wire poke the water jacket clear. That rear cylinder gets really gunked up, just like the Essex. Yes, thats the one. The alloy threads in the bl...
