SS1 'Mr Green' back from the dead.

It seemed to cause no issues. Although, fingers crossed I have no plans on trying it again :)

SS1 'Mr Green' back from the dead.

October 2018 (I'm a bit late posting...) Time for an update on ‘Mr Green’, now 9 months since purchase and over 3000 miles covered regardless of weather. It’s been going well, but a massive oil leak meant the engine and gearbox had to come out. Not really what I needed as I’ve two other cars needing...

B-pillar Back to Black

I've found most of the 'back to black' type sprays work well but don't last long. Best thing i've found is...shoe polish. But make sure there's none to get on any clothes etc.

Joe's 1972 GTE - MOT'd

Sorry to see this 😔 mine did the same (supplied by a well known specialist) so maybe not related to engine build quality..? This is at least the sixth recent case of this lately.

Convert heads to unleaded or not?

The proof is in this thread and having had to deal with the aftermath (see my photos) I can assure you it's entirely possible. http://www.martin-north.co.uk/forum/one.jpg http://www.martin-north.co.uk/forum/2.jpg http://www.martin-north.co.uk/forum/three.jpg Heads from a respected Essex specialist. ...

Looking for a project SS1

A word in defence of a non galvanized 1300cc (the runt of the litter), I might be lucky but mine shows nothing but mild surface rust, it's great fun to drive even with 1300cc and yes it's not the fastest thing in the world but still engaging. It's cheaper to tax and insure. I've driven far quicker m...

Coupe boot lock

Any wear in the plate that the plunger presses on will result in the two parts not aligning. You can drill a tiny hole in the rear panel, insert a small pin and open the boot that way if worst comes to worse. There is a photo on here somewhere showing where to drill. I obtained a NOS mechanism from ...

Straight 6 coupe for restoration

We're doing a good job of putting prices down again - it's a handbuilt rare car - compare the price of a rough MGB or GT6

Essex V6 tapping[again!]

Blooming heck. I shall be taking a close look at mine. Did yours sound a bit like an out of adjustment rocker before that happened? First instance; Started as a very light rattle / tinkle that only lasted a few seconds and only on first cold start of the day. Removed heads and found valve seat was ...

Essex V6 tapping[again!]

I had a valve seat drop out on a set of fully refurbished heads by a known Ford V6 specialist. Prior to dropping out (smashing itself into lots of pieces, needing a liner to be fitted as bore / piston damage) it made a tapping noise as you describe.
